You're all sick of Dashboard Confessional. So am I. I just don't get how or why he's so popular. Shit, just over a year ago he played in my friend's basement to about a dozen people. I don't think anyone knows what happened. So why did I go to the concert? Three reasons: Please login or register to post comments. What are the benefits of having a Punknews.org account?
holy shit, to the guy below me, i couldnt have said that jump ship comment better. i personally have a friend who 2 years ago had newfoundglory and dashboard pins.now? no there popular and suddenly taboo to support. she better stick to her rainer maria and deep elm pins. hahahha. fuck elitists. dashboard rules. How can you people like Ben Kweller, but hate on Dashboard?! I have no clue how Ben Kweller @ 15 got signed to a label, let alone today's Ben Kweller....he sucks, bad. Ben Kweller is pretty awesome, when he was 15 he released a cd with his band Radish, they were awesome live. The cd is called restraining bolt and is a great album. They sound like weezer meets nirvana, it's a good thing, it's 5 or 6 years old now I think though. Definately check it out. Once and for all, bands like Dashboard Confessional have no place in the whole "punk scene". Maybe they are good musicians (though I think they lick ass), but this whiny-ass music needs to go elsewhere. How about letting Creed in the punk scene? Or POD? Fuck, any band that isn't country or hip-hop can be punk now. I think I'm gonna be sick. why dont you all listen to silence is the new loud by some acustic band playing this new acustic movement, oh i feel so emo tonight i miss my high school girlfriend... Ben kweller blew all the other bands away. at least in cincy. dashboard is generic now, whoever said he is too old to write highschool romance songs is right. he is tiring now. at least when he played the other night he didn't sing with that stupid accent he began using about 4 months ago. The anniversary have all turned into hippies, they still rocked but, too hard on the eyes. i am disappointed that mike decided to leave seville to drum for dashboard, his voice is so awesome and he drums like crazy and now we will never get to hear him sing again. plus he was one of the few drummers/singers out there. if you guys want to hear a cool band check out seville. Dashboard though, he is like a plane in flames heading for the ground at 500 mph, except he is too up in the clouds so far up right now that he is never gonna see it coming when he hits bottom. He was something fresh and new 2 years ago, but he is old now. Disposable, i never though i would say that, but the pain he conveyed in the songs on the first two releases was just striking, but the new stuff is so sugar coated it is not even stomachable. check out ben kweller. rocks One, ive been to gabes oasis too many times. A fucking landmark. ben kweller rocks, so does dashboard...anniversary is good too, but is for the kinds on acid - bigjerk Wow your an Emo Rocker you hate punk. Any ways enough of that. First off Dashboard Confessional to me was one of the greatest things to happen to music in a long time. I thought it was cool that someone could sit there play acoustic and have no drums or bass to take away from simply played and well written lyrics. This was 2 or 3 years ago and a lot changes. After my friends and I at KGRG 89.9 (seattle) recived a 3 song tape that was sent just to see what we thought we fell in love. After hearing the ep and the next ep was still in love. Then it happend he started haveing a band play with him. It was pretty silly to think of Dashboard as anything special since it has become something pretty weak sounding and less full then it once was. I know can not hear any of there stuff without the sickening thought of a bass and drum in the background taking away from the song. I know alot of people may not see where im coming from, but i belive simplicity is the ultimate show of love for anything. Personally, I find choking down beetles easier than listening to the Anniversary. Can you blame me? The performed directly after THE MARS VOLTA when I saw them. THE MARS VOLTA! I thought that was a great review and have to agree about what you were saying about dashboard and the anniversary. i heard that show was sold out. Oh well. I saw the Anniversary a few months back. THEY'RE HIPPIES NOW! whoa...uh...has the anniversary totally stopped playing older stuff? did they even play anything off the recent split w/superdrag? no pre-'designing..' stuff? yeah dude, you're punk rock, you don't like dashboard confessional!! |
