The hottest new band of the hottest new decade (just making a prediction here), Surfer Blood, has gotten a few comparisons to Vampire Weekend and...wait, wait, where are you going, cynics and punks young and old?! Keep reading, and just trust me! These dudes seem like they grew up grooving to their parents' copy of Graceland too, but dug their Cheap Trick records more. Then they discovered their own Cheap Trick with Weezer, branched out to some shoegaze and early emo stuff and the product is right here. The only problem with my hypothesis is that these West Palm Beach natives are only in their early 20s, meaning they were born after Graceland and were like five or six when The Blue Album came out.

One of the best albums I've heard in a while. I'm going to be digging this for a long while. Lots of hype about these young upstarts down here in So.Fla. Oh man, this is way awesome. I'm loving everything about it. My favorite records always end up being the ones that come out of nowhere. i think this album is awesome. the guitar tone is otherworldly. With a band name like this, they should sound like What Happens Next, not this crap. Yeah, it's best to assume. i stopped after the i still love you boris yeltsin comparison, i like that band but i would not like them with fuzzier guitars and echoey vocals. This is all right. I feel like a lot of these songs could be a lot better. album is very solid. Twin Peaks is a great song |

This doesn't sound like Vampire Weekend at all. Just because these guys use afro beats doesn't make them Vampire Weekend. Those beats were around long before the Contra kids.
