Young Generals' demo 7" is only a mere two songs, but they're incredibly promising cuts. The A side is "Reconnecting," which pairs the raw, emotional dynamicisms of Small Brown Bike's Our Own Wars with younger-sounding, grainy vocals that remind me of Smoke or Fire's Joe McMahon. That sound might.

That sound might be becoming all the rage these days, but Young Generals sound less polished and unhinged than, say, the nonetheless stellar PA scene tends to produce. B side "Thirty One Winters" traverses plenty of slower, more swelling mini-buildups and has a couple really warm minor-key moments that again hint at something really good to come from this band.

This is a really short taste that certainly whets the palette well for whatever's next from Young Generals.

I may be way off on this and some hot shot web designer will come in and tell me I'm an idiot...

But I'm pretty sure they used CSS to put a bar across the screen where the bar that shows your progress in a song is. It prevents impatient people, such as myself, from skipping to different parts of a song. Pretty clever if that was the intention, and it kind of makes me realize how lazy and impatient I've become.

They have a full-length about to come out on Creator Destructor Records. I heard it the other day and it is amazing!
