Avail cancels recording of new album; reissues update

Avail has cancelled their upcoming recording session. The band was planning to enter the studio in September and then November with Bill Stevenson and Jason Livermore to begin work on the follow up to Front Porch Stories.

They had this to say:

It felt like we were putting a deadline on writing. Some of the songs felt real good and others didn't feel like they were good enough to record. We didn't want to put out a record with some good songs and a bunch of space filler. So we backed out of recording and will start the writing process all over in January.

The band also had an update on the Jade Tree reissues of their Lookout!-era material:

In the mean time I've been working closely with Jade Tree Records on the re-issues of our old releases. The layouts look good as hell. Since Lookout! Records didn't keep any of our artwork on file, we had to start from scratch. I was bummed on changing the art up at first, but in the end, the new layouts look great.

The band is planning to tour following the releases in the Spring with those dates expected soon. They have launched a myspace page as well.
