Coachella 2006 to include Tool, Franz Ferdinand, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bloc Party

Some initial participants for Coachella 2006 have been announced.

The annual event is held at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio, California and features musical performances by a number of artists on different stages, showings of independent films, and a number of displays of contemporary art. Coachella is a two day event, whose attendance has steadily increased from about fifteen thousand people at the first Coachella in 1999 to a sold-out hundred thousand in 2004. The event skipped an appearance in 2000.

Due to headline is popular alt/metal act Tool who have remained dormant since their last performance in the US in 2002. The band appeared at the very first Coachella in 1999. Co-headlining the show will be 80s staple Depeche Mode, While the full lineup has not been confirmed, a number of artists have, including The Zutons, Art Brut, Bloc Party, TV On The Radio, Sigur Ros, Cat Power and Damian Marley.
