Dr. Frank's "King Dork" garnering attention

King Dork, the novel by Frank Portman (Dr. Frank) of Bay Area pop-punkers The Mr. T Experience, has been garning some mainstream attention including a recent piece in USA Today. Frank explained some of his own feelings about the success:

Until now, probably the most lucrative and high-profile (thing) I've done is, somehow, one of my songs ended up on a Wonderful World of Disney TV show called My Date with the President's Daughter, I stretched out that money for years.

Portman released King Dork on April 11th. The book is described as "a mystery, and a comedy of high school manners, but more than anything, it's a treasure trove of musical references and opinions." The punk rocker turned author took some unusual approaches to promoting the book including a "virtual book tour" online and "King Dork" songs and a trailer, all posted online.
