Greg Shaw remembered with new book, compilation

Suzy Shaw and journalist / author Mick Farren have compiled a book chronicling the Bomp Records label and its late, influential founder Greg Shaw. The book collects full color reproductions of Shaw's rock fanzines from his first zine Mojo Navigator (1966 to 1967) to the Bomp magazine (1973
to 1979). The 300 page work brings together writings by Lester Bangs, Greil Marcus, Ken Barnes, Gene Sculatti and Shaw himself among others. The zines feature interviews with everyone from the Doors and the Seeds through the Ramones, and Blondie.

Bomp founder Greg Shaw passed away in October of 2004 from heart failure. He was 55. In the years since his widow Suzy has taken up his cause. The label also recently released the He Put The Bomp compilation CD as a tribute to Greg. It features 23 unreleased cover track from bands like the Briefs, the Black Keys, Nikki Corvette & Hell On Heels, Brimstone Howl, Nikki Sudden & Captain Sensible, the Dwarves and others.
