Dashboard Confessional to play "Unplugged": fans ask "will their sound change?"

Vagrant Records today announced that Dashboard Confessional will tape "MTV2 Presents Unplugged 2.0: Dashboard Confessional" in the MTV Times Square studios. The exclusive performance will feature unplugged versions of songs from Dashboard Confessional's Vagrant Records debut, "The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most" and will
premiere exclusively on MTV2 later in Summer 2002. Vagrant has also said that Dashboard Confessional will be touring this summer with Weezer, although that has yet to be confirmed within the Weezer camp. If you want to read the rest of the press release, it's below.

"MTV2 consistently beats radio to the punch when it comes to breaking new
bands, and their support of bands like Saves The Day, Thursday, Phantom
Planet and the resulting success of those artists says it all," said Rich
Egan, President Vagrant Records. "To say they are stepping out on Dashboard
Confessional would be a gross understatement as they have been championing
Chris for over a year now. The fact that he is the only non-platinum
selling artist to be asked to do Unplugged is mind blowing."

The performance will feature such Dashboard Confessional favorites as
"Screaming Infidelities", "Saints and Sailors" and "The Best Deceptions"
among others. For fans who have never seen the band live, "MTV2 Presents
Unplugged 2.0: Dashboard Confessional" will introduce them to a unique
performance experience like no other.

"Dashboard Confessional and Chris Carrabba have such a powerful live sound
and passionate following that we felt an Unplugged’ performance was
definitely warranted," said David Cohn, GM, MTV2. "Dashboard is an
excellent example of the kind of artists and music that MTV2 is actively
supporting - this performance will help introduce fans to some of the great
new music that may not have reached a mainstream audience yet."

The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most is currently at #157 on
Billboard's Top 200 Album Chart, soundscanning over 150,000 units since its
release in April 2001. Dashboard Confessional has just completed its second
sold out national tour and will be playing radio festivals throughout the
months of May and June. Dashboard Confessional will be touring this July
with Weezer.
