Members Of The Clash, Mescaleros, Pogues @ Federico Lorca Tribute

On August 20th in Grenada Spain, an event is planned to commemorate the life and death of the
influential Spanish poet and playwright, Federico Garcia
Lorca
. Lorca was murdered by Falangist (fascist) soldiers on August 20th
1936. Clash frontman Joe Strummer paid tribute to Lorca in the lyrics to The
Clash's "Spanish Bombs."

In an open air gig in Granada's Sacromonte,
band mates of Joe Strummer from different periods in his life will be coming
together to play the tribute show. This includes The Clash's Mick Jones, The
Mescaleros' Tymon Dogg, the 101ers' Richard Dudanski, Jem Finer of The Pogues and Julian
Hernandez. The band will start their set at 10:00 PM on August 20th and plan to
play though the early hours of the next day, Strummer's birthday. Strummersite
spoke with Tymon Dogg in Hastings a few days ago and will have an interview
posted soon. Tymon spent the day with Mick Jones in London rehearsing the set of
Clash, Mescaleros and unreleased tracks for the gig.
