Break-ups: The Stereo (1999-2004)

Plagued over the years by a revolving door of musicians, The Stereo seems to be on its last legs. Drummer BJ Wuollet posted a highly emotional, profanity-laden tirade in the band's Yahoo! Group, claiming within the message that he was kicked out of the band and that frontman Jamie Woolford and bassist Chris Serafini will start a new group - whether or not that band will be called The Stereo remains to be seen. Click READ MORE to read Wuollet's statement.

UPDATE: Since his first statement, BJ has released a second one that is more coherent and less vulgar. It's also under READ MORE.

UPDATE AGAIN: Jamie has posted a brief message on The Stereo's webpage stating that the band has indeed broken up, and that more information will be coming this Monday. Click READ MORE to see his note.

STATEMENT 1

So I don't know if this is cool or not but as I have been told:

THE STEREO HAS BROKEN UP.

I don't know if you all know but I live in Minneapolis MN, and this
has never been a problem until I was kicked out of the band I have
been a part of for numerous years today.

Fuck me, yes Fuck me. I am a very very bad dude.

No, it is true and anything that is said different in my defense is a
fucking lie.

All I will say is Jamie and I met each other on a street in MPLS
about 8 years ago and we used to be in a band called Animal Chin
together and when he started The Stereo he asked me to be the drummer.
I said "no" because I was moving to Seattle With a band I was playing
guitar in already.

When he fired everyone/they quit he called me and asked if I
wanted to go to Japan. I then formed a band for HIM of good
fucking friends of mine. Jared Egglington, Frank Bevan, to be
in HIS band and we went.

After that he wanted nothing to do with these people. and not to be
an asshole - but I am - but they wanted nothing to do with him either.

We found Kevin Scanlon, and Chris Serafini, from the band Pollen.
We did one tour and Kevin quit, Chris was waiting for an answer
from Samiam, who broke up, and abracadabra! he is still
here. and today I was asked to leave; we break up,

Because I can't move to the desert?

I moved back to MPLS from Seattle to be in this band And then Jamie
moved down to Tempe, and I just can't do it.

I am truly sorry but I just can't do it.

I guess I am the biggest fucking shit bag in the whole god damn world
and once again

FUCK ME, FUCK ME, FUCK ME, FUCK ME, FUCK ME,

Chris and Jamie will have a new band and I will not be in it.

I guess most of you don't care but you know what? [I] JUST WANTED TO TELL
YOU THE TRUTH.

Bruce J. Wuollet, Huge fucking rediculios god damn evil bloodsucking
asshole.

STATEMENT 2

So I guess I dont know if this is cool, but here goes.

As I have been Told!   The Stereo is broken up.

As some of you may know I play the drums in the band and I live in
Minneapolis MN.  The other boys live in Tempe.  This has never been a
problem until know.  Last night rather than work out some sort of
solution,  (me staying in AZ for a very long time), my band informed
me that we are breaking up.

No option,  oh and here is your ticket home for tommorow.  Yes Lesa I
am sorry but I don't get a chance to say goodbye.

i am OK with the decision, but the way it was carried out makes me
feel in a big way like I just got dumped.

I have been playing music with Jamie on and off for the last seven
years of my life.  And we have done alot together,  good times, bad
times.  Over the years alot of folks have said some bad things about
him,(and me too), and I have always had his back and vice versa.  But
I think that is all over know.  I think I may see what everyone has
been saying.

I feel like just another dude to get used and thrown away when times
get too heavy,  and I would like to add that the last time we
practiced I really hope he noticed how good I got those drum parts
that he wrote for me in my band.

I posted a very intoxicated message last night which I hope some of
you read but I did delete it so I could make some sense and say my
peace, because I dont feel we broke up, but rather I was kicked out.
And I guess I should wait to read it on the Website.  I am waiting.

I want you all to know that when I joined this band,  we were going
to Japan. Jamie lived in Mpls and I lived in Seattle.  I got some
dudes to play with us for that tour,  and when we hit the states that
fall is When Chris joined.  Then I moved back to MPLS.  For alot of
reasons, but a big one was for Jamie.  Then he moved to Tempe,  And I
am truly deeply sorry but I just cant move to Tempe.  Once again this
has never been an Issue until yesterday.

So for those of you who care. We're done, and It happened in a very
shitty way in my opinion, I just want my voice to get heard, and I
can't wait to see how this is explained on the website.

Thanks to all of you, I know I have met some of you over the years,
and I wish I had met all of you, maybe I still will, I promise to
stay more active on this board as long as it is up,  and by the way
there is a really kick ass drummer named b.j. available.

B.J.

STATEMENT 3

I just wanted to let you all know that it is indeed official - The Stereo have broken up. Emotions are pretty high & not everyone agrees with the decision, but I will post something on Monday which will outline what has happened once I've calmed down & collected my thoughts. BJ has posted some comments, per my conversation with him 10 minutes ago, he does not mean.

I apologize that this has come out this ugly way. But be patient & we will explain everything soon.

love,
stereojamie
