Serenity Now!

Fascimile (2015)

Serenity Now! is a fairly recent 4 piece pop-punk act with all the gears and chemistry that make it a perfect example of how to play and tour in a local band and simultaneously have a good time doing so.

Featuring members of other local Toronto bands such as The Gentlemen Thieves, Splitfist and Revisionist these 4 guys definitely bring their experiences forward with their latest release Fascimile which is a fun E.P to listen to from start to finish and doesn't disappoint for any true punk or pop-punk fans out there.

Starting off the E.P with "Whatever Forever" this track begins with an interesting riff and a singable verse that's great for those long, brutal days at work that you want to finish. It's jumpy, it's happy and a cool start to the entire E.P.

"Space Admiral" keeps the beat going with another fun guitar riff that's played to throughout the entire song and seems to be one of the best tracks on the E.P, I can definitely see this one being one of their top ones to play live - the energy makes it for a crowd favourite.

Finally we have "Wake Me Up When March Ends" which I'm guessing is some sort of spoof of Green Day's "Wake Me Up When September Ends". Either way, it's one the longest tracks on this release and the intricate songwriting leaves it to be probably the best song on the E.P - it has a very climactic ending that leaves you wanting more.

For fans of Iron Chic and Pears, these guys seem to be well on their way to making quite the impact on their scene, let's hope that their other projects don't get in the way and put this on the side burner. I'm totally psyched to see what they will be up to in the future.
