Stretch Arm Strong

A Revolution Transmission (2001)

Schmuck

One of the most storied live acts around have put out the long awaited
follow-up to "Rituals of Life." Stretch Armstrong, the nice guys of
hardcore, are undoubtedly the most fun hardcore band I know. They
seem to capture the power and sincerity perfectly while still coming
across in a positive way.

Chris McLane's voice is a thing of beauty and brutality. Throw in some
chorus on the throat, feverish guitar, frenzied drumming, and you got
"A Revolution Transmission," a natural progression from "Rituals…"

What else can I say that hasn't been said about these South Carolina
folks. Incredibly passionate lyrics, a pounding mix of old and new
school hardcore, and the baddest breakdowns around. This time, the
formula remains with some new touches (a cool little instrumental and
vocal effects), but the intensity has been turned up a notch. Obvious
highlights include "Dreams Away" and "Take Back Control" about Rape
and Incest abuse, which features dual screaming by Chris and a female
friend (Patti Davis). Definitely take a good look at the lyrics on this
one…

Again, I will have to wait patiently for them to come to my town. In the
meantime, "A Revolution Transmission" will keep me satisfied…
