Hearts and Mirrors (2001)

Hailing from Hialeah (just on the outskirts of the City of Miami), these five gentlemen have been bringing south Florida fans of emo & pop-punk an earful of their brand of alcohol-fueled tunes for quite some time. Everywhere they went, they made fans with their 1999 7" release appetite for instruction & the 2000 cd ep, stories that go northwest - which sold unbelievably well for complete unknowns in the world of hardcore punk - yet never managed to get picked up by a label. Their new CD, "hearts and mirrors" is a barrage of brazen pop hooks similar to Jawbreaker, Screeching Weasel & Weezer. The sometimes angry, & yet often emotionally driven vocal harmonies some compare to Samiam, Face to Face, or even the Get-Up Kids. Lyrics deal with a wide range of topics… from broken hearts to well, more broken hearts. Heart-breaking indeed, but with the humor behind lines like… "I used to want to kill myself, but now I know I just wanna kill you," from 'breaking point', you'll understand that their hearts will mend quickly. Also, istick around for the hidden bonus track - really cute, guys!
I admit I laughed…

Long-time friend of the band, Jeff Moriera from metal-core heroes Poison the Well, lends his vocal stylings on 'waste' & 'distance'. An album they'll be chatting about all over the place soon enough.
