Kill Conrad

Work & Class [7 inch] (2009)

Brian Shultz

I feel like Kill Conrad's earlier releases may have been sent this way before with little reception. Their newest, however, warrants a bit of attention.

This quick 7", Work & Class bustles with melodic punk/hardcore (emphasis on the punk) that reminds me a bit of the older, unrefined and raw-produced No Trigger (fellow Massheads) stuff, though way less indebted to Strike Anywhere. This is definitely some stripped-down, no-frills stuff with a sure scrappiness. There's a few glimmers of something more promising coming up every now and then (various tempo changes in "More Peter North"). I also like the more aggressive kick that opens Side B with the slightly street punk/Kid Dynamite-crossed "Underthrown."

A fairly solid release exposing Kill Conrad's musical chops and such.
