Friday the Pittsburgh area was hit by the remaining forces of Hurricane Ivan and suffered some of the worst flooding that our beloved home town has ever seen. We unfortunately didn't escape the hurricanes wrath, as A-F Records sat directly in front of a creek (a creek that has never flooded before) but we managed to move everything of dire importance up to higher ground, in some cases merch, gear and equiptment was moved up to an inch above the height the water got after had we abandonned ship for fear of the rising waters.
We are all very lucky as this is NOT the end of A-F Records. Nobody at A-F was hurt, we all need tetanus shots, but we are all okay. Unfortunately thousand of homes and businesses were destroyed in the wake of Ivans wrath and all we send our condolences to the families and businesses who lost everything in the Pittsburgh area. Thank you to everybody for your continued support. We will have our business back up and running in a few weeks time.

A-F Records should've had Anti-Flag just stand there and shout their anti-George Bush speech at the flood. Eventually the flood would have gotten too annoyed and just moved on. 13+ Replies

so did anything bad happen? or do they want us to applaud them for saving everything? 1+ Reply

meh...If they got shut down the good bands on the label(Pipedown, Thought Riot, New Mexican Disaster Squad, Destruction Made Simple, and The Code) could find new and better labels for them. Most of those bands are far more talented than A-F. Although it has been hit or miss for bands that have left A-F, The Methadones have done really well, while The Unseen have gone down the pisser(well, they're probably doing great financialy, but they have gone to shit musically). So anyways, meh. 5+ Replies

allow me to be the first one on topic, and instead of telling you why I don't like A-F Records, I'll simply say that it sucks that this happened to these guys (yes; they are people, not just an assortment of album releases), and I'm glad everything seems to be alright. glad you're still kicking.

if the bands on this label wanted other homes i'm sure they could find them and leave a-f if they wanted... in many ways a-f took lots of bands that most people hadn't heard of... who had no prior releases and used their popularity to expose people to what they consider is good music... and gave them an opportunity to record and release records and tour on them fairly extensively. you kids need to grow up.

that really sucks, i hope everything turns out ok! also, does anybody know anything new about the Anti-Flag/major label bidding war, does anyone know what happened after?

Ivan fucking KILLS! Jeff is keeping shit together though, he's like flood control over there in the swamps of AF Records. - Kirby

There is a news post about the fact that this label almost lost a few dollars in merch (Oh wait!!! by an inch!!!) from the REMNANTS of a hurricane that KILLED people? ??? Move along. Nothing to see here. 3+ Replies

No point in being immature, A-F is a decent independent label with good ethics, and I'm sure most of you like at least one of their bands. I'm glad they didn't get flooded out. 1+ Reply

Man, FUCK Ivan. I live in Western, PA we have shitty weather, there's nothing to do, etc, and for all of this, we should be exempt from any natural disasters. 3+ Replies

Why couldn't this have happened to Victory Records instead? Despite anti-flag, they're much more deserving. 2+ Replies

Being a once Pittsburgh-area native, I feel your pain, amigos. I once had my basement flood from a creek. Drowned all of the snakes and groundhogs in the basement.

Calm down everybody! You can dress up an asshole in a nice scarf and cap, but it's still a dirty asshole. Can't change nothing.
