Icarus Line guitarist quits, joins Nine Inch Nails

Aaron North of The Icarus Line and Buddyhead has left the band and joined Nine Inch Nails. He will be making his live debut performing on the industrial band's upcoming March tour of the UK.

North has stated that the new position was not the motivation for his departure from his former band, telling Sp1at.com that:

I quit the band. I was over it. I did not quit the Icarus line to join Nine Inch Nails,I quit the Icarus line about a month before I started playing with NIN.

The Icarus Line released their previous record, and V2 debut, Penance Soirée last year. Nine Inch Nails will be releasing With Teeth on May 3rd via Interscope.

Remember when a bunch of butchers in Wal-Marts out west somewhere unionized and Wal-Mart eliminated delis from ALL of their SuperCenters or whatever the fuck they're called? Badass. Obviously. No one ever questioned whether or not this is legal. It's just retarded. It's my favorite defense when people say the labor movement is dead or not powerful anymore. If that's true, Wal-Mart and McDonald's wouldn't be closing down stores when there's talk of a union. Duh. Keep it up, UFCW!

That's a risky move. Trent is really the only NIN member (like Josh Holmes and QOTSA). He changes rotation a lot and besides that NIN only puts out one album every 5 to sixe years. But then again touring is the cash cow and NIN is about to do a lot of that so he picked a good time. Never got into The Icarus Line anyhow. -Dante P.S. Oh, quote of the year: "I quit the band. I was over it" Love it. None of that, "I wish everyone the best. We're all friends and circle jerk eachother". Just a simple, it's done, deal with it.

It's not risky because it's a live position only. Trent doesn't fire his live members, but they often have their own projects going so he sometimes has to find replacements. Or, in this case he may have needed an extra guitarist, perhaps some of the new songs have more guitar parts. I'm not sure that Danny Lohner is doing something else to occupy his time, but maybe trent wanted someone else to play the parts he would normally play so he could be exclusively on the mic during the tour. Crhis Vrenna has been touring pretty extensively as Tweaker this last year, but I expect that's over. I haven't heard whether or not Charlie Clouser will be on this tour or not. With that said, it is very impressive to be asked by trent to play for NIN because the live band lineup is always really killer, full of extremely talented and well-rounded musicians. the only person from the fragile tour who is still there is the drummer jerome dillon, who was a late addition to that tour. no charlie, no danny lohner, no robin finck. sounds secure to me.

Hey, Trent pays so the live band slays. Robin Finck is in Guns N Roses and the other guys are doing music/production for films (SAW, UNDERWORLD). Clouser worked on the Helmet record, and Lohner was in APC for a while. I don't think any of those guys are starvin'...
