The Bronx released a self titled record in 2003 via White Drugs / Ferret. Their imprint will be teaming up with Island for the forthcoming release.first off, may 25th marks the date that the drips are heading into a studio in eagle rock to record their forthcoming full length. sessions will include the tracking of 12 songs, all live, recorded strictly on tape, no digital product use of any sort...and should be available, well, who knows. soon.
june 1st marks the date that the bronx will head into a studio in venice and begin tracking 12 or so tunes (out of the 30 that have been written) with matt and joby's fathers at the knobs, swapping stories about 'nam. again, strictly all analog, and again, nothing digital about this bad boy. in the past 4 months we have learned and mastered the art of both kinds of music, country and western, and both styles are shaping up nicely! should be released, well, who knows that either.
there is no touring planned as of yet, we will not be playing any hippy summertime festivals this year, but the music will flow. there will be a slew of 7-inches released on white drugs in the months to come that are all shaping up to be quite exciting and quite visually stimulating, more info on that as they begin to surface.

Both the Bronx and the Drips (a side project of guitarist Joby Ford and vocalist Matt Caughthran) are heading into the studio in the coming months. The band revealed details in their recent newsletter:

From what I hear The Bronx are no better than Good Charlotte in terms of being sell-out pieces of shit. I had a conversation with someone at a show about how major labels had realized that the reason a lot of bands flop is that they have no underground street credit, so they've decided to synthesize the process of a band being on indie labels by signing a band and paying an indie label to put out the record for them. He cited The Bronx as an example. 13+ Replies

I really enjoyed their debut album, took a while to totally hit me...but when it did my girlfriend got sick of it real quick. Guess it stayed in my CD player a bit too long. Good band. I'm glad I don't have the drips.

I don't know about the Bronx. Every song they have sounds exactly the same and they got signed to a major after their 3 show...give me a break. 1+ Reply

everyone seems to hate the fact that the bronx got a major deal (or whatever) as if being signed to a major establishes you as a great musical act. people say they don't deserve it, but then they hate every major label band they see on tv. so explain to me how it's so great to get signed to a major when only a handfull of bands who are signed are actually any good. who cares what label it is. the label doesn't write the music. they don't play the shows. it's merely a stamp, like the nike swoosh. and if the label is in full control and the band submits to the all mighty dollar, then fuck 'em. let 'em be rich with no integrity.

I figured news of this would be announced soon. I doubt Island was gonna let them kick around for three years before putting out a debut.

Bizzle is such a hipster sometimes... 1- Why would a major label "manufacture" a band like this? Have you heard their first album? Do you honestly think the same kids who listen to "metalxtothexbrotherhood" shit are going to buy it? 2- Negating question one, does a band's musical quality mean absofuckinglutely nothing to you? As a rich kid in college, how did the members of the Bronx betray the brotherhood of the streets that you shared growing up? 3- Don't you like Alexisonfire? Oh wait, no, that's Anchors. -BSD

What's up with Bullet Treatment ? No mention of them, that's the best shit out there from these guys.

PS- i like how they like to compare themselves to Black Flag. or at least they want you to be thinking "Black Flag" when you listen to them .it's a marketing tactic that's supposed to give them "street cred". i can tell you without a shred of doubt, none of the lame hipsters in this band have ever seen BF. in fact, they are the polar opposite of Black Flag and punk rock for that matter. and yes i invented punk and i make the rules so FUCK YOU! 5+ Replies
