Taking Back Sunday to headline upcoming Hellfest; label status indeterminate

Taking Back Sunday will headline this year's Hellfest in Trenton, New Jersey. The news was confirmed by the festival's organizers and is the first band announced for the event which will take place from August 19th to 21st. While the lineup has not been announced yet, tickets are already available here for $99.

The band released Where You Want to Be in 2004 via Victory. Also, reliable sources are reporting that the band has left Victory though no new label has been confirmed.

The only song that I like from TBS is "The Blue Channel." The first minute or so of "Timberwolves..." is pretty enjoyable too, but after that it deteriorates into typical tatecore bullshit. -Chinatown

Maybe Hellfest should be less assholish and maybe invite Paint it Black to play the show first and then slowly introduce the idea of asking lifetime to play. That way its not such a slap in the face to Dan when his current band gets no love by these silly scensters.

Haha, wow. Just wow. Two years ago, I got a 3 day pass for 55 dollars, and there were some great bands playing. Skycamefallings last set, Dillinger played for an hour, Figure Four. And look what's happened now. Hellfest was Syracuse's event. 7 Fucking years it was in Syracuse, tickets were cheap, good bands played, and kids came from all over the country to have fun. Then it gets sponsored by Hot Topic, and moves to Jersey. I don't understand this. They've taken what has to the potential to be an incredible event, and put it in the shittiest city of one of the shittiest states, and has Taking Back Sunday headline. I don't even have problem with them, but this is fucking Hellfest. Get this garbage out of here. Fuck you New Jersey, fuck you Hot Topic, and most of all fuck you Trustkill. God damnit.

My issue isn't even so much with Jersey, but it's Trenton now. The last venue was okay because of being so close to the city, so the Tri-state area made sense. But Trenton? This is a big "fuck you" to the upstate New York kids that made Hellfest so god damn big every year. This is what we have to show for it now. Fuck that.

Put down the pipe, man. Last years had Converge, Dillinger Escape Plan, Most Precious Blood, Shai Hulud, Zombie Apocalypse and Death by Stereo all played, and that was just one day. Jersey wasn't too hard to get to, and Hellfest had food that you didn't have to put out a loan to pay for. If I had the cash to go to NY, I'd go again.

from what i've heard, the city of syracuse made it too hard to secure a venue that would be large enough for the three day type of fest that the promoters wanted to put on. i remember how hellfest started in a small community center type venue, but the last year it was in syracuse it was at the state fairgrounds. two years ago i remember meeting kids from germany and japan that came for hellfest. if you look on the local message boards, one of the promoters himself says it will never come back to syracuse because it's proven to be so profitable elsewhere. hooray for the scene.

You're missing a few main details. A) A few years ago a 3 day pass to Hellfest and a 1 day to Warped were the same price. B) It was a 3 day event, not a tour like warped. c) It was better, until Hot Topic got involved.

Best thing to ever happen to this band was when Against Me! locked them in their dressing room... (you know..i guess it takes a while to sort out that "emo sweep" and all that and paint your finger nails black, more about the fashion then the music eh?) well i guess somebody got a key and let them out...you know bad records to be made and all your young adoring fans who were into nu metal 4 years before and "nu faux metal emo" now, but could be swayed by the offerings of metalcore defintaley don't wanna lose those fans, worth too many £$ etc. Also the next person that calls Atreyu/Silverstein etc a "Hardcore" band has obviously been listening to too much metalcore or emo. Now please pick up some Minor Threat, Black Flag, Ebola, Hero Dishonest and Boxed In records.
