When John Nolan and Shaun Cooper quit Taking Back Sunday, many fans feared impending doom for Amityville, Long Island's newly crowned "kings" of the emo scene. Please login or register to post comments. What are the benefits of having a Punknews.org account?
Taking Back Sunday Is Deffinatly A Good Band . I Do Think That They Could Improve on a few songs tho . But W/E , I Think That They Are Awesome . I second joedobbs it doesnt matter people. as long as the music makes u happy you don't really have to care what others have to say about it. you like it or you dont. you really don't have a reason to bash what other people like. I think tell all your friends was great, and where you want to be was pretty good too. So there, lets not fight shall we? This band is nothing without John Nolan. The chemistry is completely gone, because the new guy, whatever his name is, can't support Adam's voice like John could. THe music itself is also much lamer. That aside, Bonus Mosh Pit Pt.2 is still a good song, and so is the last song on the album (I don't even know the title, because frankly, I don't see the point of listening to this album when the former one is so superior.) well this album is the best , look just pretend that they started wiv the ppl they have now then listen to their music its great!! and for all u ppl that say it sucks ....lets see u play better!! their lyrics r cool and the guitar is amazing and y bother comment saying bad things this a a fans site freaks!!!! we cant all be intrested in the same stuff to some ppl this ROCKS to others they hate it and unless u have something positive to say FUCK OFF THIS SITE.... keep goin the way u r taking back sunday cuz u kno most of us love u ! :S :P well this album is the best , look just pretend that they stated wiv the ppl they have now then listen to their music its great!! and for all u ppl that say it sucks ....lets see u play better!! their lyrics r cool and the guitar is amazing and y bother comment saying bad things this a a fans site freaks!!!! we cant all be intrested in the same stuff to some ppl this ROCKS to others they hate it and unless u have something positive to say FUCK OFF THIS SITE.... keep goin the way u r taking back sunday cuz u kno most of us love u ! :S :P TBS...they are fuckin awesome, wat else can i say, i band that has rocked from the beggining, even with the lose of jon nolan and shuan cooper, they still pulled there music together in an awesoome style, that cant go ignored. I Cannot Understand how that band's new CD is even considered emo, the lyrics have lost all meaning and the tone of voice in the singers just show it all, no frustration or anger... NOTHING! just looks like these kids are pretty damn happy about everything. I think it's alright, could be better, and you can just tell listening to adam's voice he has no anger or fustration, yet his songs are considered emo?! whats going on there? holy crap this album freakin rocks...(anyone who hates this album) listen up you suck then because these guys had to totally remake their band...two guys quit obviously they couldn't handle it so obviously they were idiots yes they were talented but man t.b.s. got some nuts and got new band members...so they worked their asses off getting a new band and putting together this album...they earned their respect and they freakin rock this "where you want to be" album is freakin amazing....anyone who sais otherwise is obviously freakin stupid in the area of music and also has no talent...oh yeah and led zeplin freakin sucks...bye wipe good As everyone already knows, john nolan was in taking back sunday, and co-wrote the songs on tell all your friends, and when john nolan left everyone said taking back sunday was a sinking ship and john nolan was the only thing that had held it together with his oh so wonderful wrighting skills. It isn't quite what I expected, but not really in a bad way. It is good, but Fred makes it much much better, vocals & stylistically. this was a good album, but not great, tell all your friends is much better- more up-beat Wow if ur actually interested in this band u must have a dirty bunghole or something cause their music stinks like Lyssa's shit. I hope someone with a really big and gross penis rapes u for a long time and like rips ur anus so it hurts to crap or something cause u suck. go listen to led zeppelin they r cool. taking back sunday sucks grandpa pubes Taking Back Sunday is honestly one of the worst bands I have ever heard. They have 0 talent and whoever likes them should be shot over and over again for provoking this shitty music. All their songs sound the same and they are all about the same things. They have no comparison to bands like Led Zeppelin. Face the facts, Taking Back Sunday is very untalented. They are no different from any of those shitty other bands like Simple Plan or Good Charlotte. To the person a couple comments below: If a band is going to drastically change it's line-up BUT still go by the same name, then their albums are going to be compared. * cough I love "Where you want to be" I think it's mixed better than TAYF and Fred has better vocal control than John Nolan. it's true that Lazzara has some trouble live with his pitch control... but a show that energetic certainly makes up for a sharp note here or there. And as for the songs, I like how you can sort of tell where they're going before they get there... the breakdown, the sing-a-long chorus... You can tell where they're going and it's where I want to be (pun intended) Look past the name and the history. Just listen to the album and forget about this band having the same name as the one that released "Tell All Your Friends". This isn't a stellar album, but it's by no means deserving of less than 3. The only track I can't listen to is "New American Classic"...I thought that somehow I got a Dashboard track in my playlist by accident. i agree with whoever it was that said that a linup change was a different band. i bought the cd with that in mind and it's not bad. i still prefer the old TBS but i was expecting the worst from where you want to be and it wasn't that bad. anyone who thinks that this cd "doesn't deserve a rating of over 3 stars" is completely wrong. obviously you are NOT a true TBS fan, and if you were, you would accept the change. it definantly shows how great a writer adam lazzara is, and also he co-wrote most of the songs with fred. so give him some credit. and if he sucked at guitar, he wouldn't be in the band would he? i mean eddie, adam, and mark are in no way stupid people and wouldn't just bring in a guy that has no talent. just listen to the cd and you'll see how good it is. *cough* why would you compare tayf and this one in the first place? lineup change = different band. this is awesome with a huge variety from an acoustic in "New American Classic" to the usual upbeat songs. The lyrics are truly, and as always, something special and amazing. This album stays true to who they;ve been, in other words...if you likes the last album or any of their singles. you'll like this one. So go out give the support and buy it! Well well I have read alot of these comments on the album and I have to say there are alot of idiots out there. this album in any way does not deserve anything over three stars. In comparison to "tell all your friends" this record is nothing. They have lost all there originality and now fit in with the common pop records out today. I read a reveiw saying that Fred is a way better guitar player and singer than john was. I fell back in my chair from laughter, I know who ever wrote that probably didn't have an ounce of talent in guitar, and as for the singing from who ever said freds voice compliments adams better than johns did, I am at a loss of words for that. This cd fuck'n kicks ass and takes names. If you don't have it get it. Check for tour dates on ticketmaster. all you all that say this album sucks and whatever are dumbass's...TBS is fucking great and the new album is different but still kicks ass...if you would listen to the lyrics and just "feel" the music then you would realize that its a great album....as one magizine said "they went from heart broken to lovelorn" Well so I don't get mauled (haha jeff) I will just say that is one damn good review. and thanks so much as this cd does have some repitition, it is a great cd. i think adam and fred complement each other better than adam and john(i will prob get hate mail for that). they took lyrics from brand new because those two bands have been fueding. to find out why go to songfacts.com and look up seventy times 7 by brand new. i love this new cd and saw them play an acoustic set in orlando. they rocked. adam and fred sound so well together. they have given me faith in music again. I think this album is great. thats your fault for watching mtv. "I can't say I know what or why, but they must be doing something right, they opened up 3rd on billboard and sold like 163k albums. One day I will say 164k and that will show them" I can't say I know what or why, but they must be doing something right, they opened up 3rd on billboard and sold like 163k albums. One day I will say 164k and that will show them I don't love it or anything, but I do find myself constantly listening to it (over TAYF), so that's something. I really want to review the Planes Mistaken For Stars album "up in them guts"....problem is, where do i get it? I have checked everywhere. This review rules, and jeff dring kicks serious ass. Do it.... Do it The purpose of this review was not to claim one album is better than the last. Thats not the point of reviewing anything. The band is different now. THESE THINGS HAPPEN. There are other reviews coming...so keep reading kiddies. Even after two reviews I have no desire to ever hear this. not as good as their first album but i still like this one not as good as TAYF but not much is ....its still really good. Not as good as Tell All Your Friends.....but it's listenable Score's for Breaking Pangea. Bonus Mosh pt.2 is the worst song title i have ever heard... "Mascherino and Rubano flesh out the guitar and bass playing and interject a more mature twist to the saga that is Taking Back Sunday." Less Taking Back Sunday, more Today Is the Day ughh. i hate how people feel the need to say things for shitty motives. this site is losing its credibility for me. I like the album but it's missing the honest desperation that was in Tell All Your Friends oh and i forgot This score is for "theres no I in team" In about hmmm...5 years, admitting you listened to this shit band will be like admitting you listened to Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch now. Totally true about the Tell All Your Friends not being that good. I skipped the first two tracks every time as they sucked big time. There were probably a couple of other skippable tracks as well. The good songs here aren't as good as the good songs on Tell All Your Friends but there are less skippable ones. Can you retards please get your abbreviations correct. It's fucking TAYF. It is NOT TOYF or TALY. Damn annoying people. i bought toyf the first week it was available, so score me 10 points for being there from the "start." but seriously, the first album wasn't amazing. i usually skip 3 or 4 of the tracks when i listen to it. this album definetely lacks some punch that toyf had, but it's still a decent album. set phasers to stun is a better song than anything off of the first album. "Where You Want To Be is a record that should not disappoint fans of Taking Back Sunday" This CD is on sale for 12,99$ Canadian, while both DEP and PMFS are 26,99$. C'mon. Even though I didn't like their first album, this album completely lacks ALL the originality and personality that 'Tell All Your Friends' had. At least that record was angry and a little 'new' sounding, but this is so generic and unimaginative and...well, utterly average. colins review sucked, it was poorly written, and that is why i like this one better The people below are right, we need the hazen st. review You lose your backing vocalist and the guy who writes all of your music, what do you expect. It sucks! does anyone else get annoyed at the new guitarists stage prescence?..just him dancing and singing ive got a bad feeling about this are cause for a soon disastar To the Busted/McFly comment - if they wear a Thursday t-shirt it does not make them as punk/alternative as Thursday nor does it mean that they sound anything like Thursday. It means that they have a member who is a fan of that band. And American's have no idea who Busted or McFly are so ur comment is even more stupid. ok.. two TBS reviews over either a new minus the bear or velvet teen... scott get crackin on those reviews.. only you are brave enough to take on the indie rock the other review was better. this band sucks. always have and always will. thats right i said it. to forty- colins review sucked, it was poorly written, and that is why i like this one better. How can you say "A decade under the influence" sounds like a bigger better TBS, it is one of the worst songs i have ever heard all i can say is " I got a bad feeling about this, I got a bad feeling about this" and it goes on and on "There is no review of the hardcore homeboys known as hazen st., yet this unbearable garbage is reviewed again!?! " So why is it better, because it's more positive? I'd rather be sleeping. That's where I'd wanna be. score's for how much better this review is than colin's. Although i do not agree with everything you said, it makes more sense than colins fucking stupid review. say what you will about the new cd, but there is no denying that fred is a better guitar player and singer than john. no comparison. Better review than the other one There is no review of the hardcore homeboys known as hazen st., yet this unbearable garbage is reviewed again!?! " What I want to know is, where is the BUSTED and McFLY reviews? Busted were wearing a THURSDAY shirt on TV today, and sound and look exactly like THE ATARIS, TAKING BACK NOVEMBER, etc - this stuff is not the alternative, and it is not punk. Just like Busted and McFly. If anyone can tell me the difference, please do because I am lost!!! "The Union" and "Set Phasers to Stun" come off sounding like the cuts that did not make it to the final version of Tell All Your Friends. This cd is growing on me but I still have to skip past certain songs. I miss the violent lyrics though so that doesn't help. No review is objective. This review is a lot more on target than the previous. Props for giving a more objective review. It wasn't the greatest, but it proved that this band isn't collapsing without Nolan. There is no review of the hardcore homeboys known as hazen st., yet this unbearable garbage is reviewed again!?! Why does the lead singer act like he's got an advanced case of the shakes? Good Lord, just calm down. It's not that intense. 200 comments arguing that taking back sunday sucks and that they're really good does this have songs that evoke stuff? cool. I'm a 28 year old male. I bought it. I agree with this reviewer. I have no interest in ever hearing this cd. But this review was very good, and miles above the other one. I mean no slander or harm with this following comment: why give such a god awful record by this shitty band a second review? bigger production does not mean better production, we all know a band gets more money second time around. I absolutely love this cd, TAYF is good infact its great, but putting all personal issues aside this cd is fantasitc. Nolan wasn't the only writer to leve TBS seeing how they wrote the cd with jesse lacey (is that his name?) from Brand New. IMO Nolan is a tad bit overrated, I'm not saying he is no good but he is given incredibly to much credit. Adam is a trat and you can argue that his voice isn't great or he can't hold a note BUT this is "punk" not mariah carey. They put on a show that is incredible, When I saw them in 2002 with Rufio/Brand New you could tell they stunned the audience and you knew that nothing but a bright future was ahead.. Good cd, not as good as Tell all your friends, but still very good. are you saying this was better than tell all your friends? what's wrong with you? Fred makes Adam look like a fool live. |
