Warped Tour announces NOFX, Thursday, Motion City Soundtrack, From First To Last

Warped Tour has confirmed several more acts for their upcoming annual swing. NOFX, Thursday, Motion City Soundtrack, and From First to Last will be making the annual Summer trip. More bands are promised to be added over the coming weeks and months.

The four bands join the first, recently announced act, Rise Against.

2003, 2006 Close enough. Honestly, I went to every Warped up until 2001, and just got sick of seing the same bands headlining every year. Seriously, maybe I'm jaded, but every year its either NoFx or the Gimme's, then you get either Bad Religion or Pennywise, and Rancid or Lars or T-Plants. Through in a few SideOne acts for good measure, and maybe 2 big Fat bands. Round out the smaller stages with your indie labels with "cred" and tah-dah, Warped Tour.

i know it's not punx! but i haven't missed one of these in 8 years, and i'm not gonna anytime soon, so i'm glad there's gonna be good bands. i have a feeling LTJ will be there too. good chance for BR and i think there's a decent chance for the others too, except maybe the Souls, who may be busy elsewhere. any other bands got new cds out next year that might jump on?

While it'd be cool to have them on Warped, wouldn't it be much cooler for them (and us) if they did headlining shows. I hate the 30 minute sets and random set times. 2 years ago, there was a 3 hour gap o' emo between Bad Religion and Flogging Molly. And my brother said that this year MXPX played at 11:30 am (even though tickets said doors open at 12).

You do relaize that you live within the system don't you? You're using this computer, you buy clothes, you shop at the local grocery store. Unless you live in a commune, you aren't living out of the system. I don't intend to be mean, but open your eyes dude. The government and corporations are everywhere and in everything. Also, to completly deny yourself all of these things would be to make your life very hard. Not all aspects of the government and corporations are bad. Some actually brighten and otherwise dismal existance. Why can't we all have fun once in awhile. And once you get so into something you can't enjoy it with "regular" people or "sellouts" or "white devils", then you're too far gone. I went in 2004 with a buddy who was about to be deployed to iraq in one week and I had never met him. He was the only reason I went. I ended up rockin' out the souls and making a fuckin' awesome friendship. And man, it was fun. Just don't go to any of those shitty vendors and punch anyone in the face that tries to slap a sticker on your ass.

I've only seen NOFX once and it was at Warped, I'm beginning to think that they'll never do their own full scale tour of the US ever again. I believe the last time they did their own tour where they hit Chicago was back when Errorism came out and I missed that show.

maybe finally this year joe queer will stage his anti-warped tour tour. he talked about it a while ago, playing the same cities on the same day with a line up of mtx, the muffs and some other like minded actual punk bands.i think its a great idea but i'd probably be the only one there in detroit. last year our warped date had over 31,000 people

that's a good question. honestly, you'd probably make more money doing the Joe Queer tour. Warped only pays the mainstage acts and it's still not much. the majority of the bands don't get paid at all. they either make it up in merch or go in the hole with label support. and now that there are 40 stages, you have to hustle and promote to get just 30 kids to watch your set if you're on the Tampax stage or whatever. sure, you can say you played warped, but did you really get your name out there? and the drives are just fucking grueling. when I was there this summer, all the little bands that were driving themselves were rolling out at like 8 pm to drive through the night cause the bands have to be there at the crack of dawn - this while all the other bands are drinking free beer and eating hamburgers and hot dogs. i don't know. i'd probably do the s

something i've noticed as well is that at least with the local bands is that they work their asses off, play a great show, get awesome response, tell everyone they will be playing so and so next week and then none of those kids show up. even the one who bought cds and shirts and say "that was the best show i've ever seen! you guys were awesome!" like i said we had 30 thousand plus people last year but throughout the rest of the year i will probably see a thousand of them again before next warped tour, no loyality even to the bands they like.

last couple of times they have played its been to almost no one. pop punk shows do horribly unless the band has radio play. thats part of why its so hard to get the groovie ghoulies to play here. i can't remember a single headlining show they had here with more than maybe 50 or 60 people here. mtx managed a couple hundred a few times but even the queers don't draw over 150 anymore. really sad actually, its like the older fans stop going and there is no new kids going to those shows

Does Motion City Soundtrack have nothing better to do or something? Don't get me wrong, I always have a great time when I see them play, but three years in a row? That's a bit much. Here's to hoping Thursday plays the South Florida date. I was planning on seeing them in 2004, but they dropped out to play a week later in the Curiosa Tour with the Cure and Interpol and a few other bands I liked. By the time heard about it though, the only tickets left were the crappy ones all the way in the back for fifty dollars.

No Division is the one to get. But, as it's only 7 bucks from No Idea, you should order Fuel For the Hate Game and Never Ender too. The Rumbleseat Is Dead CD (both vocalists from HWM playing acoustic songs) is also great. -Chinatown

we played with this band. we were the only opener and they sat in the parking lot during our set. now, i miss bands sets all the time to drink outside, etc, but I always try to see at least a few songs. these dudes did not watch us at all. i don't know. call me old fashioned, but i think it's a bit rude. it's not like we were one of 10 bands on the show. we were the ONLY other band. it's basically like saying "hi i'm in a band that that dork from Rolling Stone said to check out. i'm too cool to watch your shitty local band that did all the promo to get a crowd out to see us. thanks for playing!" then the PA crapped out like 2 songs in so they had no vocals. i believe the bhuddists have a word for that.

I'm not sure that more would go, but I think people would enjoy themselves more. I went to the Sounds of the Underground tour this past summer (only to see GWAR with my friend) and there were still a lot of bands, somewhere around 15-20, but they played longer sets than Warped Tour. I think the headlinging band even played for about 2 hours.
