Hawthorne Heights vocalist JT Woodruff has launched Carbon Copy Media. Woodruff enlisted the aid of Mark Daily who ran Confined Records and released material by JT's previous band, A Day in the Life.
The label also obtained distribution through Victory along with an upstream pact which allows Victory to pull successful Carbon Copy acts into Victory's roster. Carbon Copy Media has also announced its first two signings: Cincinnati's own Ellison, and Crown Point, Indiana's Asteria. As for his band, Hawthorne Heights released their first DVD, This Is Who We Are today and will be releasing their sophomore full length, If Only You Were Lonely in February. Since the release of The Silence in Black and White in 2004, the band has quickly become one of the biggest bands on the Victory roster. Carbon Copy Media (76 comments)

"The label also obtained distribution through Victory along with an upstream pact which allows Victory to pull successful Carbon Copy acts into Victory's roster. " Must be good to know your label is useless from the beginning.
skaboom (January 10, 2006)
Wow, way to suck Victory's cock even harder. From his perspective, it is a wise move to start such a label now, as hopefully screamo will go the way of nu-metal, but to depend so heavily on a pseudo major label that will gobble up every successful act on your label is guaranteed to be frustrating.
Someone (January 10, 2006)
notice the name of the label...Carbon Copy. Just what HH is, a carbon copy of every band that did the whole emo screamo thing before them.
sXenester (January 10, 2006)
Carbon Copy? Wayyy to easy. This shit writes itself.... anyone else see the new teaser for clerks 2 yet? f'n'a. 2+ Replies

Hahahaha. 1. "Carbon Copy Media"....good job, no reason to deny the cookie-cutter image and (lack of) sound all of these prick bands have. 2. "Upstream Pact"....so, if a band is successful, Tony gets to snag them? Awesome. What a douche.
Gigantor (January 10, 2006)
dog shit this shit is awful... Carbon Copy! hahahha too funny. They can't be serious. I can't wait to see this fail hard.
Someone (January 10, 2006)
Fuck me, expect more carbon copies of Hawthorne Heights styled bands on his label....now where is the nearest cliff i can jump off?
Scootz_McNasty (January 10, 2006)
this is retarded. Normally I am happy to hear new labels starting up and new bands getting signed. I thrive on new music as much as everyone else. But this is retarded. Its like every lead singer is starting a label. This band's not even good and they have one. Soon everyone and their mother will have a label. And their all "unstream pact," so they are all just puppets, really. Can we please stop doing this label-opening trend? you're band is going to get hardcore drama in a year or two, you'll break up, a few fat chicks will try to cut themselves (if they haven't grown the fuck up yet), and you'll return to you 2-bed condo, go to community college, get a real job, and move on. stop this shit and focus on your band. its a shitty one. fix it. 2+ Replies

Someone (January 10, 2006)
Horrible horrible band. I can't understand why kids like them so much. They suck at what they do.
Icapped2pac (January 10, 2006)
Holy crap, I don't think he could've done a better job of naming the label, considering what derivative crap his band is.
Someone (January 10, 2006)
Truly the worst fucking band ever in the history of music. I can't even describe how fucking awful I think they are. I'd much rather listen to Limp Bizkit, or Puddle of Mudd than this shit.
Someone (January 10, 2006)
man, i have to honestly say i've never heard a single hawthorne heights song, and i really want to now, just from all the comments saying it's the worst noise you could subject yourself to.
Someone (January 10, 2006)
Why don't Aiden and Hawthorne Heights team up and make a split record and wage aural warfare on anybody willing (forced) to listen.
Big_Guy (January 10, 2006)
Bands like Fall Out Boy are good at writing catchy songs. Hawthorne Heights on the other hand, will never be good at anything. 2+ Replies
MrStabone (January 10, 2006)
lord, please just kill me now when will it stop. give me something, anything. there has to be some other godawful new trend bubbling in the underground that can push this shit away. i dont' care what it is, just make it stop.
Godfather (January 10, 2006)
i heard the guy that signed hawthorne heights works at an arby's now 2+ Replies
swank (January 10, 2006)
For about 5 seconds I hoped and dreamed that all 51 replies would have somehow missed the irony of Hawthorne Heights starting something called "Carbon Copy", and I would make this great obsevational one liner and you'd all think I was really funny.
Someone (January 10, 2006)
so I'm not a big fan of online opinions usually (high blood pressure is bad) but this news post/comments thing is hillarious. -chrissy/suhleep
dazed (January 10, 2006)
Oh man he calls it Carbon Copy then signs two other bands with names that sound like bougie neighborhoods. I wish this garbage was easier to ignore and Victory didn't have that goddamn commercial running when I'm trying to watch Beavis and Butthead reruns on MTV2.
fritobandito (January 11, 2006)
this is seriously better than any April Fools' Joke this website could have possibly written. I mean, nothing even needs to be commented on. It's just fucking comedic gold without ANY of the user-posted comments. 1+ Reply

at least hawthorne heights isn't already a complete joke. i'm taking this label completely serious... no really. i'm sure only good will come out of a vocalist from a shitty band aiding others.
deathbyguitar (January 11, 2006)
carbon copy media?! How fitting is it that one of the most carbon copy emo bands, starts a label called carbon copy, where all kinds of copycat emo bands will find a home and no one will know the differences between them because they all look and sound the same. I actually applaud JT, because he knew exactly what was gonna happen with his label.
Someone (January 11, 2006)
You can all rip on how Hawthorne Heights is shitty, and while I agree, It does not mean the bands that he signs are gonna 1. sound like hawthorne heights 2. are gonna suck. I found this Ellison band e.p. and its really good. Im not too sure about the other band. But the ellison cd has killer harmonies.
Someone (January 11, 2006)
I can see why people like Fall Out Boy, Sum41, Blink, all that but this is just awful. The guitars sound like shit, the lyrics are trite. Screamo is truly the new glam metal.
Someone (January 11, 2006)
less than jake was my favorite band was i was a youngling but now i have to say that i curse vinnie and his fuckbag label for signing fall out boy and allowing that shit to be forced on the populace, this shit has to stop. Its sad what the prospect of money can do to people.
Someone (January 12, 2006)
Well I will say that Asteria isn't too bad, I have their CD, A Lesson In Charades(a promo), and I will say that I like them a hell of alot more than Hawthorne Heights 1+ Reply
