With Honor replace vocalist, continue

Though there were many rumours that the band had split up, Victory Records hardcore act With Honor will be continuing on, albeit in a different form.

The band announced the departure of vocalist Todd Mackey this week, but have already secured a replacement in Scream Out vocalist Kevin "Whitey" White. With White on board, the band has also confirmed that they will maintain all their current touring obligations, including the upcoming tour with Strike Anywhere and A Global Threat which will go on as scheduled.

The band released their Victory debut, This Is Our Revenge last year.

Did this Todd fellow write the songs? If so, they should definately break-up (see also: Catch 22) But if not, replace the singer and keep going. (see also: Shai Hulud)

It did, they did it while Scott was in rehab/jail. They sort of went on without him for a while. He also did 12 Bar Blues during that period. Over all Talkshow was much more popular. However, Velvet Revolver gets Scott the final laugh. -Dante

Chad wrote all the lyrics for Hearts Once Nourished.. but not the songs, but this is really not an issue anyhow unless the singer plays guitar as well. I've only seen Hulud live with Geert, and he was incredible, the footage of Chad live I've seen wasn't too impressive.

Chad had a FAR better voive than Geert in Shai Hulud. Chad had deep pissed off screams that added a really dark vibe to Shai Hulud. Geert has too high-pitched of a voice and sounded very pre-pubescant in comparison.

people who say that WH sound like SA have really no idea what are they talking about...have you even listened to both bands...perhaps if you hear both bands once you can say they sound alike...but I am listening to SA from their beginning and started listening to WH about a year ago and woudl not say they sound the same...yeah so both bands play fast and agressive style - so they sound alike or what!?!

i've listened to Strike Anywhere since their first EP came out and With Honor the same. The new With Honor sounds VERY similar to Strike Anywhere.

i definetly hear similarities. i think they are two bands that can be compared, though they are clearly not the exact same. with honor is slightly more technical, and strike anywhere is slightly more punk, but i think its a fair comparison.

Fat, Epitaph, Nitro, Fearless, Drive Thru, Vagrant, and I'm sure i can list many more if I had time... It is true Victory has shitty policies with their bands, and they do have a handful of god-awful bands (ie: Aiden and Hawthorn Heights), but the bands they haave that are good are some of the best out there. Lastly, With Honor's last album was a bit of a disappointment. They stopped being hardcore and went more pop-punk in a Rise Against kind of way. Maybe the new vocalist will help bring their edge back.

Every time I see a news post about this band all I remember is Chicken: Yeah we’re hoping. I think we’re a little different type though. A lot of the hardcore out right now is like the tough guy face tattoo, kind of like songs about your honor and oath. Jason: And picking yourself up when you fall down. Everybody’s falling down. Chicken: Yeah, all these hardcore kids are falling down and they all sing songs about how they pick themselves up. Jason: And people are holding them down too. i thought todd was a pretty decent singer. he could sing and scream and blend the two, kind of like thomas from strike anywhere. but i have to admit i think i liked the band more when he screamed more than he sang. i wonder which way they will go with the new singer. i've never heard of scream out, are they good?

Saw them open for SOIA at CB's in the fall and they were great. One of the guitarists from With Honor played guitar for them (not sure which brother). Whitey can sing and could definitely handle the With Honor material. They have an EP out and I think a myspace page.

i don't now how i fell about this. i'm gonna give them a chance live hopefully and check out any new stuff they put out, but Todd was one of the best parts of the band. oh well, maybe this guy will somehow be better, though i think a name change wouldn't be a terrible idea. Strike Anywhere/AGT and them will still be sick.

last time I saw tham that whitey guy sang like two songs from what i heard it didnt seem too much diffrent. it was fun with todd though he would always go pretty crazy and from my experiences he was a nice dude but I dont think anymore leaving is a reason to not support a band granted they will sound diffrent but there all nice guys and the music is still pretty good I think they all definately deserve a chance

I'm pretty sure that there was more to the band's music than just the vocals, so acting like Todd was the whole band is quite stupid. It sucks a lot that he's gone. He was an awesome dude, but the dude chose to leave the bands of his own free will, so people shouldn't be bitching about them kicking him out. The song I saw them do with the new guy in Long Island last month seemed pretty good, so I have hope that things will still continue to be enjoyable.
