Thoughts of Ionesco releasing anthology CD/DVD

Detroit's Thoughts of Ionesco are receiving the anthology treatment from Seventh Rule Recordings. The Scare is Our Watermark will be released in May, and features tracks taken from the band's four albums, as well as rarities from their singles and previously unreleased songs. The release will include a 55 minute DVD documentary featuring band footage, interviews and stories of "the neurotic debauchery."

Thoughts of Ionesco included drummer Derek Grant, formerly of the Suicide Machines and current drummer for the Alkaline Trio. The band formed in 1996 and has only recently broken up. They were described by Alternative Press as "the ultimate realization of pain through sound" and compared to My War-era Black Flag.

Derek was only in the band for six months and couldn't handle it I heard. Those guys were too dirt bag. I like the "And Then There Was Motion" CD better than Reign in Blood but never boght the other TOI stuff.

and if memory serves me right - he wrote alot of those songs.... that dude has been in a ton of MI bands....very talented

yeah that was ME who said that.... and yes he played in a fistful of MI bands....he is from MI... newflash ill is right next to us..... slapstick and alk3 (early years) use to play in MI like ALL the time

i think it was just those 2 times. other times they were susposed to play they didn't for one reason or another. i have a flyer for a show with slave one that they didn't show up for in either late 95 or early 96, can't remember which

derek was also the singer on the first version of rude girl by the skolars & sang and played drums in the last version of the telegraph (same band as the skolars for those keeping score) he played on the first 2 suicide machines full lengths and sang on the first

i am trying to remeber the other bands he played with king for a day, maybe? (great band by the way) moods for moderns? i cant remember - my memory is getting bad.... also, is sanguis doing anything now?

sanguis, penxa and brock are in live til you die (they are on myspace) john reynoalds is in lisboa (also on myspace) derek was also in remainder (with kara from boys night out), gyga, broken spoke and plenty of others i can't remember off the top of my head. the guy gets around, oh and he drummed for the vandals and good charlotte on tour and played guitar for face to face on a tour or two

i saw live til you die at one of the parka kings reunion shows...and their bass player and guitar player are two of the guys from heads will roll. and they'll say they sound like faith no more, which they do, but they've also got got kind of a fugazi vibe to them...at least live, i've never heard any recordings of them. it's pretty good stuff.
