February 12th, 2006
by Sunday Edition

It's Sunday February 12th, 2006. I don't know about you, but my TV's been tuned into the games in Torino all weekend long. Ahh the Winter Olympics, what's not to love? Canada vs. Italy: 16 to 0. Canada vs. Russia: 12 to 0. California's Shaun White taking names in the half pipe. I think the Chinese figure skating pair were performing to Zeppelin's "Kashmir." Good times.

Stories you were talking about this week

Some music "leaked" from Tom Delonge's new band Angels and Airwaves, and the frontman's hype for the forthcoming record is becoming as much a discussion point as the music itself. Another upcoming record with a huge profile `round these parts is of course the Lawrence Arms' Oh! Calcutta!, new music form which was released online recently. The Lookout fallout continued this week as the good Sir Ted Leo parted for greener pastures at indie powerhouse Touch and Go. Tour plans from bands like Against Me! and Bigwig had anticipation running high, as did the rare announcement of upcoming Rancid performances. This week also saw the A Wilhelm Scream minus a bassist, Green Day getting its industry accolades at the Grammys and Dischord distributing DVDs of that crazy Pancake Mountain kids show.
