Descendents launch exclusive Vans shoes

Descendents will be launching their own signature Vans shoe on June 1st, 2006. The long-running and influential hardcore/pop-punk act is currently on hiatus while members work as producers, scientists and even the backup band for the Lemonheads.

The band's last record was the 2004 album, Cool to Be You.

The Descendents have been playing punk/hardcore probably since before you were born.. Vans putting out these shoes just goes to show how much the band has endured.. even the harsh criticism from all the punk "scene" kids who think they are punk but don't have a clue of punk's history...... so i was thinking. of all broken-up bands with no dead members, descendents would be the ones i'd like to see do a reunion tour most. just over op. ivy, atdi, and murder city devils.

christ, some of the bands you kids listed broke up within the last 2 years. if you are going to wish for reunions at least reach for the stars... op ivy, judge, refused... something of that nature instead of a band who has barely been gone like small brown bike or hot water music (if you go see the draft, its EXACTLY the same as hot water)

Jawbreaker is great. After listening to Dear You, it is a shame they didn't release more of the same or expand further. I'd say Operation Ivy is the one that is overhyped. Although you could make the argument they are both overhyped.

I was wondering why there was a pair of shoes as their MySpace pic. If this were pretty much any other band, I'd think this was stupid, but since it's the Descendents I'll probably buy them.

first of all Fat Wreck is NOT a corporation. i guess nothing can be 100% corporate free cause even if labels do use independent distributors, they still use corporate-owned trucks.

but thats just like 2% corporate. this is 100% corporate.

And i would rather listen to extensive amounts of NOFX, Bad Religion, Operation Ivy, Wu-Tang Clan, the Descendents, Bad Brains, and the Adolescents than every single no-name new band that gets signed to Victory or Plan-It-X.

Provided they aren't any more expensive than regular Old-Skools, I wouldn't mind having a pair.

But, if I were in a band that was any good, the shoes I'd design would be fucking aweomse. I'm not sure what they'd look like, but I bet they'd kick ass....no pun intended.

the only issue I have with Vans, is that the toecap rips easily when you're skating.
I like Vans alot, but somtimes they can't withstand some skating
