Media: Helmet posts mp3, video for "Gone"

Helmet have posted the first video and downloadable track from their upcoming debut for Warcon Enterprises. The band will be releasing Monochrome on July 18th. For the record, the band enlisted Strap It On and Meantime collaborator Wharton Tiers to co-produce and return to the organic sound the band is known for.

The album is the first since 2004's Size Matters.

These guys suck soooo badly. I remember seeing them at the Warped Tour thinking how good it is that we moved away from that grunge/metal era. Hearing crap like this makes you really appreciate punk.

The music sounds like helmet...only not quite as good. The vocals sound like Puddle of Mud. Not a good song.

a frank open letter to Page Hamilton....from a longtime fan going back to Strap It On era:

Mr. Hamilton - although you are undoubtedly the leader of Helmet, and always have been, enlisting Whartno Tiers alone is not enough to return the band back to its original sound. What made Helmet sound like Helmet was the combination of yourself, Peter Mengede, John Stanier & Henry Bogdan. Without that combination of people making music together, Helmet will never be Helmet. Fans of Born Annoying, Strap It On, and Meantime (all absolute classics), all noticed a downslide starting with Betty -- once the chemistry was tampered with - it simply wasn't the same.
