Nick Largen of Whole Wheat Bread "facing several years"; band planning collaboration with L'il Jon

Punknews.org contacted Fighting Records to check in on the status of our earlier story about the arrest of Whole Wheat Bread bassist Nick Largen.

In the earlier story, Largen had alledgedly been arrested in Amherst, NY on charges of first degree robbery. The latest news coming from the label is that Nick is now "facing several years" in prison for the alledged offense. The band has opted to continue on with C.J. aka Johnny Rock of Atlanta-based El Pus, who will be taking over bass duties.

In more positive news, the band is continuing to work on their sophomore full length and follow up to Minority Rules and is now collaborating with the "King of Crunk" and Chapelle parody Lil Jon.

This isn't Jon's first collaboration with punk rock musicians, with him previously enlisting Bad Brains guitarist Dr. Know, bassist Daryl Jenifer, and drummer Earl Hudson for his track "Real Nigga Roll Call" on Crunk Juice which incorporated music from the band's 1986 album, I Against I.

The band's new EP, Punk Life is due out in November, with a new full length due out in 2007.

I just saw these guys and any of the haters who saw them way back when or don't like their debut might be very suprised when they hear this band now. the hundreds of shows they've done since the album came out seem to have really made a difference. i'm a believer now. not saying you all will be but for those of you who thought they were just ok or nothing special before will probably feel different now. they seriously sound good right now.

is CJ going to be doing any singing? i caught one of the first shows after nick was arrested and his vocals were sorely missed. sucks that he is facing years but what did he expect was going to happen fucking around like that, you know if he actually did the crime

Streetlight's set is too short by a good two or three songs. And they only played one song off Keasbey Nights. The new songs sounded pretty good though.

I've seen Whole Wheat Bread twice, and I've enjoyed them every single time. Tonight, with Streetlight/RBF will hopefefully be no different, although I have to say that Dirty $keet was my favorite member.

really? didn't Lil Jon's last album sell almost 7 million copies. I'd say the fact that they are collaborating with him is a pretty positive development for their career.
