The Charts: August 15th, 2006

Another weekly chart courtesy of our friends at Interpunk.com. We'll be bringing you a weekly update on the most popular albums of the past week, and of the past year as determined by sales in that store. We thought it would be a good way to see what people are listening to within our community; whether it be punk, hardcore, emo, ska or whatever.

New entries include Left Alone which features Tim Armstrong and Patricia Day, the debut of sisters Meg & Dia, the long-awaited album from the Rx Bandits, a new full length from the polarizing Daughters and the new album from metal/hardcore torchbearers, Unearth.

The top ten for 2006 remains fixed this week, with no entries breaking through. With upcoming albums from the likes of New Found Glory, Strike Anywhere and The Matches dropping next month, that may change in a hurry come September.

This is seriously the stupidest feature on this website. It's like the TRL of punk music, without all the cute girls. It's not a good way to see what people are listening to; It's a good way to see which shitty band can sell out more/faster. Seriously, fuck all these bands.

And before someone says it, NOFX hasn't been on TV but they've done Warped Tour for how many years? Warped Tour is a big bunch of a shit. I think that guy from the Lawrence Arms summed it up pretty well(it was him, wasn't it?) if you don't know what I'm talking about.

I was going to let this go, but since you're calling people names. You list the ramones on your top bands and albums!! The ramones were on a major record label,have been used on countless movies and televsions shows, were played on mtv in the 80's and 90's, and they played lollapalooza '96 on which they played with: (among others) Metallica, Soundgarden and Rage Against The Machine!! But I suppose it's okay for the Ramones to be overexposed because they were originators, right? I'm not trying to discount the greatness of the ramones, but if you're going to go whining and bitching about trl, warped tour and other pointless, trite crap, you may want to check your facts.

Two of my favorites (off the top of my head) are "Destruction by Definition" by The Suicide Machines, and of course, "London Calling" by The Clash (even though I don't like the font of the text).

The font and coloring is referencing the Elvis cover...the whole cover references Elvis. The Elvis cover shows him politely holding an acoustic guitar and looking handsome with the pink and green lettering saying "Elvis Presely". I agree the Clash album cover is one of the best...And what about Nirvana Nevermind for great album covers...just to preface any remarks, if you don't think Nirvana is punk you are retarded...
