As we begin 2007, the results have come in on the top sales on Interpunk.com for 2006. Though the perennial leader, Anti-Flag maintained their number one position, a number of acts cracked into the top 20 for sales, some even with late fall releases.

Bands mentioned include Brand New, He Is Legend, Bouncing Souls and many others.

Speaking of 2006, our best of lists will remain on the front page for the next few days, but will be eternally available from this link.

News

Another weekly chart courtesy of our friends at Interpunk.com. We'll be bringing you a weekly update on the most popular albums of the past week, and of the past year as determined by sales in that store. We thought it would be a good way to see what people are listening to within our community; whether it be punk, hardcore, emo, ska or whatever.

Not surprisingly, the big performer for the week was Strike Anywhere's new disc, Dead FM. It joined notable releases from the Lower Class Brats, Horse the Band, Labor Force and Dead Hearts.

The top ten for 2006 remains fixed this week, with no entries breaking through. A number of big releases hit soon, and more big releases from the likes of New Found Glory and The Matches are dropping next month, so that may change in a hurry come September.

Flogging Molly moved up a spot in the yearly list, but otherwise the top ten for the year remained the same. New entrants to the list include Monty Are I, the first release on Stolen Transmission Releases. Two hardcore releases from Rivalry Records made the top five: both Verse and Another Breath. The major label debut from Pink Spiders made the top five, as did a reissue of a live LP from Fucked Up.

There were no changes to the top 10 for the year, but a number of interesting albums won out the week. Coming out on top was last week's strong pre-order showing from Flogging Molly. Other new entrants included Terror, All Time Low, Teenage Harlets and the long-awaited "comeback" record from proto-punk legends, the New York Dolls.

Flogging Molly had the strongest showing this week, with their new CD+DVD combo, Whiskey on a Sunday jumping to the top five for the year thus far. The Bronx managed to top the new releases list for a second time by virtue of the strong showing of their early released vinyl earlier this month. The well-reviewed Disconnecting from Sinking Ships opened strong, as did a new album from One Dead Three Wounded and the second anthology from hardcore purists Career Suicide. Finally, metalcore-turned-hard rock act Eighteen Visions rounds out the top five new releases for the week.

Four of the five new entrants in the charts all garnered strong reviews from this site; Set Your Goals, Greg Graffin, The Living End and Dead To Me all earned four or four and a half stars from our reviewers. In the annual list, little movement seems to be taking place with Anti-Flag, AFI, From First to Last and Atreyu dominating the top four. The latter half of the list has had some movement with NOFX and Bouncing Souls overtaking Taking Back Sunday and Silverstein respectively.

This past week was relatively quiet for releases, with Rise Against the most high profile release by far for the July 4th week. However, a number of interesting entries appeared in the top five, including the LP version of The Bronx (II) released by Swami a month earlier than the Island release. Also featured was Tim Barry of Avail's solo demo and albums from Italian pop-punk act, The Popsters and country act Revival Preachers.

This week, four longtime bands dominated the charts with new albums from Catch 22, Good Riddance, Dashboard Confessional and the Aquabats dominating the top five for last week. Canadian act Billy Talent also had a strong opening with their sophomore full length, Billy Talent II. Rise Against's new album quickly jumped to the top three, though did not displace perennial winners Anti-Flag, nor unseat AFI's Decemberunderground.

A strong showing this week from Underoath who's return to heaviness has apparently been well recieved among fans of their 2004 breakthrough album, They're Only Chasing Safety. Other interesting releases cracking the top five for last week include Dragonforce's reverent retro-metal on Inhuman Rampage and the Warriors RATM-inspired hardcore. Corrossive Recordings' Veil of Maya also delivered a strong showing with their new album, All Things Set Aside and Fueled By Ramen continued their winning streak with Cute Is What We Aim For.

None of last week's album managed to crack the top ten though recent albums from the Bouncing Souls and AFI have already established themselves despite only being out for two weeks. Strong showings from Betwen the Buried and Me, The Glass Casket and others made the top five for last week.

As evidenced by their spectacular debut last week, AFI's Decemberunderground continues to be a strong seller, but still has not unseated Anti-Flag's For Blood and Empire which has been out since March. A number of more traditional punk rock albums did quite well the week of June 6th, including The Bouncing Souls' Gold Record, Patent Pendings WPO-debut, Save Each Other, The Whales Are Doing Fine, The Methadones 21st Century Power Pop Riot and the Warped Tour compilation.

Our fourth weekly chart courtesy of our friends at Interpunk.com. We thought it would be a good way to see what people are listening to within our community; whether it be punk, hardcore, emo, ska or whatever.

As you might have expected, the release of AFI's Decemberunderground sent them almost to the top of the 2006 lists, coming close to unseating Anti-Flag's For Blood and Empire which has been out since March. Victory's "super-tuesday" resulted in 4 of the five best debuts last week, with albums from Silverstein, Sleeping, Junior Varsity and the Forecast all making strong showings.
