The Charts: August 30th, 2006

Another weekly chart courtesy of our friends at Interpunk.com. We'll be bringing you a weekly update on the most popular albums of the past week, and of the past year as determined by sales in that store. We thought it would be a good way to see what people are listening to within our community; whether it be punk, hardcore, emo, ska or whatever.

This week was dominated by more established acts, including the polarizing Casualties, the polarizing Against Me!, the polarizing Guttermouth and the polarizing Alexisonfire. Other entries included the deluxe live CD+DVD package from Reel Big Fish.

The top ten for 2006 remains fixed this week, with no entries breaking through. A number of big releases hit soon, and more big releases from the likes of New Found Glory, Strike Anywhere and The Matches are dropping next month, so that may change in a hurry come September.

That Reel Big Fish live set is awesome. There's a ton of content on it too, I've yet to even touch the DVD but between the two CDs there's something just shy of 35 very nicely recorded tracks.

I didn't mind that the record was a bit more relaxed. It was noticable, but I didn't mind it.

out of all those cds, the only ones worth listening to are the gold record and some of the anti-flag and some of new alexisonefire. the rest is just a total waste, listen to versus god instead

Last week had some pretty good releases. Against Me!, Guttermouth, and Roger Miret are all great albums.

Expecting something new to break into the top ten doesnt make sense...these albums have been out for a while already...they have a rediculous headstart. The whole idea of the top ten is stupid.

speaking of new albums, the new maiden album is not very good. its like 10 eight minute songs that go nowhere. track 8 is kind of rockin however, even though its about jesus or somethin. up the irons i guess. it makes brave new world look like powerslave

Track 8 is about religious wars and people killing for the name of God.

But yeah the new album kind of dissapoints me. I actually thought Brave New World and Dance Of Death were great albums. This new album is dissapointing because it just tries to be way too epic and long. I don't think it's a bad album by any means, it's just very average and leaves you expecting more than what you got.

I enjoyed it to a certain level, but at the same time, it wasn't anything epic. I was very glad to see that they utilized all three guitarists. Its worth a download and i'll probably buy it when it comes out, but its no Number of the Beast or Piece of Mind by a long shot.

Even though you are wrong and its not actually about jesus... why do people have issues with songs being focussed around jesus christianity or any other form of religion for that matter. I mean either its a good song or it isn't...

If a band states their feelings on the global issues (propagandi) they are praised for it... however as soon as they start singing about their feelings toward religion people think their music also goes to crap...

Pull your head out of your arse... may god have mercy on you...

I think it's pretty good for a later era Motorhead album. God Was Never On Your Side is a really great song.

The world inferno LP should be in there. it was bigger than the RBF record. I bet you it ends up in top ten next week.

I'll bet you that it doesn't. Take a look at what's in the top ten. World/Inferno won't sell as much as Taking Back Sunday or Bouncing Souls

So about a month ago I was out on tour in a foreign city looking through zines. I came across a MRR or Razorcake or another big press zine where the front page article was addressing the question,'are online punk stores(such as interpunk) ruining punk rock' or something to that extent. Interpunk is helping dissolve small DIY distros and online stores only serve to eradicate smaller mailorder buisnesses. What kind of creditials are they running?

The thing about this chart (2006)is that it is the same week after week for the most part. Sales make this thing, but I am waiting for the first real break out artist. Great artists drop in an out evrey week, but never seem to crack the top ten of 2006
