The Charts: September 6th, 2006

Another weekly chart courtesy of our friends at Interpunk.com. We'll be bringing you a weekly update on the most popular albums of the past week, and of the past year as determined by sales in that store. We thought it would be a good way to see what people are listening to within our community; whether it be punk, hardcore, emo, ska or whatever.

Not surprisingly, the big performer for the week was Strike Anywhere's new disc, Dead FM. It joined notable releases from the Lower Class Brats, Horse the Band, Labor Force and Dead Hearts.

The top ten for 2006 remains fixed this week, with no entries breaking through. A number of big releases hit soon, and more big releases from the likes of New Found Glory and The Matches are dropping next month, so that may change in a hurry come September.

i'd imagine of records left that could pierce the top 10, +44 is probably the biggest contender. new found glory possibly.

Bouncing Souls clinging on to #10...solid. That and the Loved Ones are currently battling for my #1 spot of the year thus far.

Which album is better...Unicornography or A Million Pieces?

I got bored of AMP pretty quickly. Still love "Alive or Dead" and the last track though. Unicornograhy doesnt sound as good as the EP so far. I think i prefer the production on the EP too (seriously)

Album of the year..either "Kill Your Own" (hundred reasons) or "Our Darkest Days" (Ignite)

I definitely agree with your comment about the production of the EP. The new stuff is so clean, I don't know whether they sound completely different because of the songs or the production, it's so different.

And Our Darkest Days is up there for me too. I never heard a song by Ignite before that cd, but it's incredible.

I can listen to Unicornography whenever, even if the EP is better, but I need to be in the mood for AMP. It's top 10 for the year, but I can't listen to it too much or it gets boring.

Alright, now that I've heard some opinions, let me ask you this. These are the albums I plan on buying sometime soon. Which order should I get them (assuming I wait till they're all released).

I know Cougars recorded their song exclusively for this CD...AND IT FUCKING ROCKS!

this is so pathetic.

The best albums of the year have nothing to do with record sales.

Maybe it's time to boycot punknews.org. We all know Underoath, Rise Against and Anti-Flag are gonna be the biggest sellers. Why even post such bullshit? The Punknews editors must know some of the best albums will never be on the interpunk best sellers. It's really sad how we're doing the Billboard of Punk. UGH.!!

The Bouncing Souls should be higher,it fucking tears it up. The new NOFX blows ass, I wish it didn't, but it does.
