Tours: Hot Cross / Das Oath / Ampere

Hot Cross have announced a short October tour as they continue to work on their recently delayed new full length, Risk Revival. The record is the follow up to 2004's Fair Trade And Farewells and we spoke to frontman Billy Werner about the record last month.

The band will be joined on the bill by transcontinental hardcore band, Das Oath and Ampere.

Hot Cross is on Level Plane. Which has a roster of very talented hardcore bands. Not to mention that Hot Cross is amazing. Otherwise I would agree with the EV comment...

And I really, really, really, really, really like das oath and have seen them every single time i've had a remote chance, so don't bring "mediocre taste" into this, you're the one who likes the hives.

Yeah, I'd rather listen to the Hives than 90% of what's considered "good" screamo. I think most people who like 77 punk or early LA hardcore would (especially their first album...). I think it was really cool that what was basically a snotty teenage punk band with irreverant lyrics got as popular as they did.

And 99.9% of what I listen to is DIY/independent punk/hardcore... But if Das Oath became hot shit all of the sudden would you abandon them? If the Locust got on MTV and all of the sudden everyone liked them, wouldn't you be happy?

I don't know, maybe I'm underestimating these bands that don't give a shit about politics, but I see hardcore as just another extension of pop culture. It fits in somewhere between post-punk and metal as far as musical movements that become lifestyles go.

Listen, this isn't about "screamo", this isn't about the hives.

It's just about your tendencies of ignorance and prejudgement when it comes to certain bands you feel like fitting into a group they don't really belong in.

I like a few of those bands because they put a modern spin on short, aggressive and just plainly fucked up music.

To give him some credit.... Das Oath and Ampere should be fucking phenomenal live. I, for one, am going to stay for the whole thing and be blown away.
