The Wall Street Journal recently spoke with a number of musicians about the popularity of the Guitar Hero game. The venerable paper spoke with My Chemical Romance's drummer Bob Bryar who explained:
I've done some pretty embarrassing s-," the 26-year-old musician says. "Jumping off tables. Standing with my legs really far apart, in that goofy rock-star stance." He adds: "I got huge complaints at my apartment building because I put it through my Bose and shred Guitar Hero all night.

Bryar apparently can outplay his bandmate Ray Toro, at least when putting up his Guitar Hero skills against Toro's real guitar. The Donnas, who are featured in the game, found the experience a little humbling:

Guitarist Allison Robertson took some good-natured ribbing from her bandmates, says drummer Torry Castellano. That's because Ms. Robertson had a hard time playing along with the band's own song "Take It Off." "Expectations for her are pretty high because she's the guitar player and because she's so good at videogames in general," says Ms. Castellano.

Comedian Fred Armisen has been using the setup for his "opening act" while touring with Seattle's Band of Horses. During a gig, he turned to a giant projection screen at the back of the stage and played along with White Zombie's "Thunder Kiss '65."
