Tours: Fall Out Boy / New Found Glory / Lifetime (select dates)

Fall Out Boy has announced the openers for their headlining tour with New Found Glory via FriendsorEnemies.com.

While the two constant openers will be the Early November and Permanent Me, Lifetime is also set to appear on select dates. No specific dates have yet been announced, however it will run from Jan. 4-20, 2007.

All the bands will be supporting recent/forthcoming albums of sorts. Fall Out Boy will release LP4, Infinity on High on Feb. 6; New Found Glory released Coming Home this year; Lifetime will release their first full-length in nearly a decade, Lifetime, on Feb. 27; the Early November released their triple-disc effort, The Mother, The Mechanic, And the Path this year; Permanent Me's After the Room Clears drops in early 2007.

if they keep playing good music then how have they sold out? they are still on an independent (yes i know, its pete wentz's label, but its still an indie) when they definitely could have signed to a major. maybe they will tour with shitty bands and actually make some of those kids realize what punk music actually is, and they will be as important to a new generation (and maybe even more so, you never know) than they were to ours.

all i have to say to this is:

imagine trying to do something you really love with limited success as a young person and having to give it up because its not really panning out, you know with having to live and eat and all, then 10 years later someone gives you the chance to do that same exact thing but with a little more security, yet you may have to put up with doing a couple of things here and there that may be lame but overall you can go through with your dream. what do you do?

Agreed. Although, I'm doubtful as to whether they'll actually make money off of this. I don't think Yemin would do this for the money, since he's never really made money off any of his bands. I'm guessing they're just trying to get some new exposure to people who haven't heard their music.

I can't even bring myself to even believe any of this. This is absolutely horrible. Aside from getting what will most likely be a hefty paycheck, why would Lifetime even do this? They had so much credibility with their legacy and now doing a tour like this really makes me wonder what it was all for.

I've never really got into Lifetime enough to get into their politics and such, but how exactly is this going against them? I mean, I expect a lot of these comments are people just pissed that a band they like will be known by 13 year olds (GASP!), but how is this worse than AM! signing to Sire?

I know I personally don't think the Sire signing was that bad. Seems like a cool label. AM! hasnt really fucked up musically yet. But this, this just shows that Lifetime and Pete/FOB are bed buddies, and, well...that's just wrong.

Lifetime was always VERY anti commercialism, anti big label, anti big tours. They basically broke up when they were getting popular and big labels were looking to sign them, including FAT, who Ari dubbed too cheesey. They also did some dates with Good Riddance and he said he couldn't stomach touring with bands like that. They didn't want to "get big" and thought it went against what they believed in.
Since then, Dan's had a lot of success and everything Ari's done musically has been a fucking joke. They got an IMMENSE amount of money to get back together. I'm sure they're getting huge money to do this tour. I really dont have a problem with bands getting back together, but as someone who actually saw them back when they were around the first time, I really can't help but think this is a washed up punk guy who convinced his former band mates to get back together for lo

Yes this sucks ass, and yes, it goes against everything they previously stood for.

But is it THAT surprising?

I mean.. Lifetime is a pop-punk band, they write ALL of their songs about girls, and they're on FOB's label. I love these guys just as much as anyone else here (and I'm really digging the two new songs), but this should not be a surprise.

I thought it was public knowledge that labels don't fund their bands' tours and therefore, labelmates don't always necessarily tour together.
But maybe Lifetime is seeing dollar signs at this point and can't turn down the offer of playing a few shows with FOB.

blink were actually semi respectable back then. enemma had JUST come out, and they were not that huge of a band by that point. their first tour where they had really made it big was the one with new found glory and alkaline trio the following summer.

I think my only gripe with this is that Lifetime is an OPENER. Then again, maybe if they didn't open, kids wouldn't stick around for them. Lifetime has done the small club circuit so much, who cares if they play a bigger venue. If anyone has paid their dues, it's Lifetime. More power to them.

what a stupid post. lifetime hassn't done the "small club circuit so much" and you're damn right people wouldn't stick around to see lifetime. i would guess no more than 5 (stupid) people pay the $30 or so it will cost to go see them on this tour, and new found glory has probably actually "paid their dues" more, even if they do blow.

Good chance for fans of a popular band to see a good punk band. Reminds me of Bad Religion opening for Pearl Jam. I hope Lifetime sells some more records from this tour. They deserve it.

At the risk of being ventilated with spitballs and hate, perhaps this will get kids to explore more "underground" bands that still have "scene cred."

I was into the original Green Day hype when they came out in '94. I found their Lookout! albums, heard a cover of a song called "Knowledge" by a band called Operation Ivy, so I picked up "Energy" out of curiousity and I was hooked for life. I found Screeching Weasel and Bad Religion, then the Lillingtons and Good Riddance, and so on...I can't remember the last time I spun "Dookie," but my copy of "Energy" has been played so much that the shiny side looks like it was used as a frisbee by Freddy Krueger.

The moral of the story is that people aren't born with mohawks. Just some food for thought.

One very important factor about this reuinion that everyone has totally overlooked is this: PLAYING IN A BAND IS FUN. Seriously, I cant think of a better feeling than seeing somebody sing along to a song you wrote (granted most people might not be in a band). Its not like lifetime is touring constantly, they are just playing a couple shows here and there, and the music they are producing is better than ever. Sometimes you play shows with bands that arent in your genre. we once played a show with an 80's metal band, a blues band, and a alt. rock band....and that show was very fun.

Loosen up and enjoy the music!
