Warner has purchased Roadrunner Records for $73.5 million.
In the United States, Roadrunner will become a freestanding label group within WMG's Atlantic Records Group. Roadrunner's international affiliates will become freestanding units within WMG's Warner Music International. Roadrunner Managing Director, Cees Wessels, will continue to run the company he founded. There will be no staff changes as part of the acquisition. The label includes the New York Dolls, Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, Megadeth, Trivium, Dragonforce, The Dresden Dolls, Cradle of Filth. The back catalogue includes Biohazard, Sepultura and many others. Roadrunner Records (79 comments)

I wonder how much a label like Dirtnap or Sailors Grave would sell for? 5+ Replies

Obvious comment about New York Dolls being the only band that was ever worthwhile. Let Roadrunner have 'em now. 4+ Replies

I'll admit, I kinda like 3 Inches of Blood, nothing special but fun every now and then, had no idea they were on Roadrunner until now. 2+ Replies

You punk morons don't know what the hell you are talking about. Roadrunner has one of the greatest lineups of all time. Megadeth, Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Slipknot, Sepultura, Fear Factory, Machine Head, Type O Negative, Soulfly, are you kidding me? You people have no clue what music is. Go listen to your stupid Plus 44 garbage! 5+ Replies

I wonder if they got a discount for the horrible Gang Green lps Roadrunner put out in the late 80's

They're better off being owned by Warner than by Island/DefJam. Island/Def Jam ruined that label for a lot of bands.

Dident Warner Bros. already own Roadrunner, I mean he was part of looney tunes.

The label was huge already, this isn't a big shocker, it'll just get even bigger now. 1+ Reply
