Tours: Coachella to feature Rage, Against Me!, Bjork, Jesus and Mary Chain, Interpol, RHCP, Arcade Fire

The official lineup for the 2007 Coachella Festival has been unveiled. In addition to the highly anticipated reunion of Rage Against The Machine. the event will feature Interpol, Bjork, Jesus and Mary Chain, the Good the Bad and the Queen, Arctic Monkeys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arcade Fire, Air, Willie Nelson, Explosions in the Sky, DJ Shadow, Blonde Redhead, New Pornographers, Nightwatchman, Against Me!, Mando Diao, The Decemberists and many others.

Last year's festival included Tool, Franz Ferdinand, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Bloc Party while the 2005 edition included Gang Of Four, the Blood Brothers, Weezer, the Futureheads, New Order, the Kills and more.

I think that Against Me! deserve everything that's coming to them - they're a fucking brilliant band.

Unfortunately, they are a band that are watched like hawks by the punk police. Apparently to these people, because an album gets recorded by AM! that DOESN'T sound like it was recorded in a toilet block, it sucks. Because the band choose to go on the Warped tour, they have no credibility. Because the band sign to a major label, they are sellouts. According to the punk police, Unless AM! continue to play to 100 or less people in basements, they have sold out.

This argument could go on forever, but one thing is for sure: Against Me! playing alongside RHCP and Interpol at a major festival will not appease these people.

To say one thing in the effort to create an image, and then do the opposite, that's pretty much the definition of hypocritical. People that took what this band said before seriously are probably upset about it.

OK, admittedly there is a small handful of acts I'd like to see. However, I refuse to spend $86/day or $250 for a weekend pass just so that I can drive to the desert, pay $6 for water, and fight a crowd of 60,000 people in 100 degree weather for a fucking show.

An RATM reunion has me close. The Police would push it over the end as the best weekend ever. The 2 bands I wanted to see most before they broke up reuniting in the same weekend. Insanity.
