The Higher post new song from “On Fire”

The Higher have posted a new song from their upcoming full length Epitaph debut. The record, titled On Fire, is due out March 06, 2007. It is the follow up to Histrionics which was released in 2005.

He became a "fucking miilionaire" because he was in the right place at the right time and signed bands (the offspring, rancid, etc.) that fell into a catagory that achieved mainstream sucess in the wake of Green Day. When Green Day got big people inevitably wanted more bands like it, and he had it (not to say that those bands sound alike...but to the a mass audience they have similarities) and was able to make money off both record sales and the deals to get certain bands on major labels looking to buy up anyone who had a similar sound or style.

Hence, what he is doing again with bands that fall into the pop-punk or emo catagories. You have to make money to put money into other things, and he wouldn't have been able to put out the Locust or Converge or Tom Waits or whoever the fuck else isn't music that falls into the easy listening catagory. If he didn't make the money to keep his business afloat he couldn't put the money into making an marketing other bands records that you might find more pleasing to your taste. That's called business.

Furthermore, your not him and you have no idea wether or not he likes this band. If you have a problem start your own fucking label and sign the bands that you like. Or I guess you could sit at your computer and bitch about how Brett Gurewitz doesn't fit into your percieved image of him as some kind of punk rock statesman.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe the people who run it all just happened to enjoy it? I'm sure this crap isn't going to make any more money than some crap-ass Zeke rip-off could, so it's obvious this is a decision based on hearing a band and wanting to put out the album because they like it.

They're streaming the whole new album. Just to let you know....

Also, I'm not a huge fan of their music, but I've met them and they're stand up guys. You're either into a certain style of music or you're not. This site has serious issues with opinions. It's fun to have differing opinions than other people, for without differing opinions this would be a boring world full of doubt. For the only time when our opinions truly are tested and reinforced is when another argument comes about.
