Newly posted on YouTube is a video of Explosions In the Sky performing on Conan O'Brien earlier this week.

The song, "Welcome, Ghosts" comes from their new album. The record, titled All the Sudden I Miss Everyone, was released February 20, 2007. If you're interested in hearing the studio version, you can find that on their Punknews.org Profile.

Starting early next month, the band will be performing this song, and several others, on an upcoming tour with The Paper Chase and Eluvium.

This album is fucking incredible, I'm so upset that their show next month in Cambridge, MA sold out.

On that note, if anyone has an extra ticket to that show that you're willing to sell please let me know

I saw them at TTs in Cambridge and they were fucking great...but I saw em' later at the middle east and it sucked, mainly cuz that place sucks, but I wouldn't worry about missing them at that venue if I were you.

honestly, does anyone else find this band's name extremely offensive? in the wake of 9/11 this kind of shit needs to be thought through much deeper. not sure what to say. i am offended.

This is probably poorly executed sarcasm, but I'll respond anyway:
They formed prior to 2001. Actually, they released their album Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die just a couple weeks prior to 9/11, and in the liner notes they unfortunately included a picture of a plane with the caption "this plane will crash tomorrow". That, coupled with their name, got them a bit of flak immediately after 9/11, but it turns out to be a freak coincidence. I don't think 4 dudes from TX were part of some big conspiracy.

Well, since the band was around before 9/11, I don't think you can classify their name as being offensive, or even remotely relevant to that event. But if that's what you get out of it, then that's on you.

I don't really see the connection. However, I was in a bad called Fatal Stingray. But after the Steve Irwin tragedy we no longer felt it was appropriate.

Mogwai has less structured songs, and they're slower, and use more "noise" instead of just music.

The only fair comparison between the two is that they're mostly instrumental (Mogwai has a lot more vocals, and they're all terrible).

Pick up "The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place"; it's their strongest album. New one is good, but it's missing that "hopeful" sound from "The Earth ..."

What I don't get is why people get so particular about the tracks.... for me, this style of music is something I just put an album on and let it flow, I couldn't really even make much of a distinction between individual tracks.

Conan has some very good bands on his show. It's cool to see a lot of smaller groups play instead of only booking trendy crap like Daughtry.

i saw red sparrows at the metro in chicago a while back open up for pelican and they were really good. They didnt have the intensity explosions or pelican had, but few do. explosions are an amazing live band. Extremely loud and not sloppy.

I just realize the my second sentence doesn't make any sense. What I was trying to say was "I'm not sure what my favorite Mogwai CD is, so almost any of their releases could be in the number 2 spot. Except for Rock Action cause it kind of sucks." I hope that makes a little more sense.
