Indie pop act Beatnik Turtle has produced a detailed and fairly comprehensive guide to the trials and tribulations of being an indie band. The detailed document focuses on bands working outside of the major label system and covers DIY recording, booking tours, promoting music, distributing it, and even looks at the benefits and downside to file sharing from an indie perspective.

Of particular benefit to acts is the look at the actual details behind copyright law, something that many people speak with forced authority about, but often are unaware of the pitfalls and rights granted by the system.

Though the band that produces the document is more They Might Be Giants than Minor Threat, many of the lessons learned would be equally interesting to indie bands in any genre.
