The Spores thrown off of Eagles Of Death Metal tour

Sidecho Records act the Spores have announced the cancellation of their UK tour. The band issued a press release that included the following explanation:

Following months on the road in Europe The Spores tour with Eagles of Death Metal sadly ended in disarray earlier this week as tempers frayed and the band found themselves knocking seven bells out of their drummer. Singer Molly McGuire and guitarist Greg Biribauer became embrolied in fisticuffs with their drummer Kenny Pierce in Barcelona, at the end of their mainland European leg of their tour. Drummer Kenny had refused to help McGuire and Biribauer and instead insisted on travelling separately from them in the Eagles of Death Metal's rather more swanky tour bus. Trouble had been building for some time and so the 3 band members, in time honoured tradition, resorted to violence; Kenny went to hit Molly, and Molly in self-defence, kicked his ass in front of everyone. Witnesses state the EODM guys had to break up the fight and they took Kenny (the drummer) on the bus with them. Sadly, this has left The Spores temporarily drummer-less and unable to complete the UK leg of the tour.

Of course with press releases like this the truth is open to interpretation. Regardless, the band plans to return to the UK this June. The Spores are supporting their recent full length Imagine The Future.

Way back when I was in High School, my friends and I observed a guy punch his ex-girlfriend in the face. When we confronted him we were told to 'mind our own business'. We proceded to beat the crap out of the guy (I think my friend broke the guy's nose). We then dragged him into the office. When the guy's ex-girlfriend told the vice-principal what happened he sentenced us each to one day of having to eat lunch in the office! Anyhow, if this story is accurate and they don't kick the drummer out of the band, then these guys are pieces of shit.

I'm generally curious about something. As a natural "mama's boy", I could never hit a female. But how does that equate into the whole "don't be sexist" equation? Obviously, the initial response is "violence solves nothing", but let's be real. I'm not a very big guy, 145 lbs, 5'10"...so most women I date are close to my size. I've been hit before, but never retaliated. Any women out there care to respond?

my beliefs on the subject are that if a woman is maliciously attacking me with an intent to cause harm, i'll hit back.

it'd only be in self-defense, so only until she stops, and i would try to make it proportional with regards to the force of her attack.

You know, I've been attacked by a woman that outweighed me ... multiple times ... and never had to hit back, because I was never at serious risk, despite being a small-framed, non-violent guy. Part of the whole "not cool for men to hit women" thing is that most of the time, men are stronger no matter what their size, and that means they always have an unfair advantage. It's pure biology.

Rarely does anyone have justification for throwing the first punch at a girl anyway, even in Kenny's dumbass case. He looked likea douchebag when I saw the Spores anyway. Glad he's out.

It's never okay to hit someone who's significantly weaker or smaller than you are, no matter the gender. But if the woman has a decent chance of actually being able to kick your ass, why not?

Equating this with domestic violence is way off. Every guy has probably been pushed to wanting to kick his girlfriend's ass at some point. That doesn't justify anything, but at least admit its true.

Someone should get their story straight. I was there. Kenny didn't try to hit Molly. He tried to walk away from a dispute. When he turned around Molly tried to hit him and missed. Then Greg tried to grab Kenny thinking that it might be a fight and then Kenny defended himself by hitting Greg. Billy grabbed Kenny to break up the fight and while Kennys arms were held back while he was on the ground Molly said " I'm gonna kick you in the head Kenny ". She evily kicked Kenny in the head more than once. That is wrong and uncalled for . The promoter and all of the Eagles guys saw everything. There was a police report filled out by Kenny and the promoter. I smell a lawsuit.

No members of EODM witnessed the fight. Gene, Dave, Jesse and Brian were all on the bus when it happened. They had nothing to do with any of it.

Kenny is still on the tour....Molly and Greg got kicked off .....that says a whole lot ! I think if Kenny hit a girl then the eagles would have kicked him off as well. Greg started the whole thing anyway and then had his girl fight his battles for him. What a wussy !
