Sanctuary to close US division in June

The US division of Sanctuary Records has decided to scale back operations and will act only as a catalogue label in the United States. The label is the second UK-based label to make that change in the past few weeks, with V2 music taking a similar path.

The label will officially shut down those operations on June 30th, leaving only catalog, licensing, and new media staff in their current positions.

The label is home to Morrissey, The Ataris, Motorhead, Tegan & Sara and many others. The label also acts as distributor for Drive Thru Records.

i laughed so hard when i read this. the ataris are without a label again hahaha. but tegan and sara are pretty sweet im guessing a major label picks up their new album.

why is that funny exactly? it's not like the ataris didn't know that was gonna happen. they wrote an album that was very different from their previous "successful" album, and it wasn't promoted nearly as much as So Long, Astoria.....which was expected.

Not likely...if this was their sole source, I'm sure there would be tons of hungry distributors out there that would like to pick up a big label.

I know nothing of the details though, just making a logical assumption.

If Tegan and Sara are homeless, they can come stay with me. I have no problem with a 2 to 1 female to male ratio in my bedroom.

i dated sisters once.....not at the same time, but i broke up with the older one, then dated the younger one. wow, i miss being 18.

when i heard that chris walla was going to produce their new album , I went back and have recently been listening to 'So Jealous' lately, to get an idea of how his effect comes through, and somehow i forgot that tegan and sara were lesbians, and this totally kills all my fantasies of running into them and dating one. damn.
