Some of you may or may not know that Love Equals Death was dealt quite a blow about three weeks ago when we had found out that our bass player was facing serious charges. Well, we would like to make it perfectly clear here at camp LED that we do not in any way condone any such behavior related to these charges. We, however are not a judge or a jury and don't want to be one any time soon. We are however a band that really just wants to continue playing music. We know that these times have been severley trying for Dominic(bass player in question) and the accuser. We hope for the best outcome for all parties. However, Dominic will no longer be playing music or working on behalf of Love Equals Death. This matter that he faces requires all of his attention right now and we (Tonio, Duffs and myself) wish him well as I know all of you do. I personally know that his love for music will always keep him in the scene and i'm sure those who support him will be seing him around very soon. This is an official statement from me to all of you. We will announce a new bass player in the next few weeks and we'll see you at the next show. The Petaluma, CA band released Nightmerica in 2006 via Fat Wreck.
Love Equals Death have parted ways with bassist Dominic Davi in light of his recent arrest. In late March the ex-Tsunami Bomb member was held on charges relating to the alleged rape of a Virginia woman in June 2006. The band posted:

i hope that psycho is happy that she destroyed a kick ass band. i bet she's real proud.
Someone (April 8, 2007)
not choosing sides here, nor do i care about the band at all, but things like this always spiral into a he said/she said kind of situation. hopefully things work themselves out and justice is served. shittiness all around.
android (April 8, 2007)
so are they inofficially kickin him out cause heīs guilty of the charges or am I just reading too much between the lines?
MonkeyFracas (April 8, 2007)
Drrrrrrama! Can't wait to see what happens in the next chapter of this soap opera. And may justice come swiftly to the perpetrator of the crime here, that being either him the rapist or her the false accuser, whichever turns out to be the real situation (I'm betting on the former).
android (April 8, 2007)
they already deleted his account on their official message board...I guess thatīs more kicking him out for being a rapist than parting ways because he needs to focus on the accusations.
Mafiasoldier (April 8, 2007)
i would bet he is pretty understanding at this point. he cant expect them to put EVERYTHING on hold while this gets figured out. I have met dom on several occasions and believe him to be a pretty understanding person.....i guess unless you say no to sex......zing!
swank (April 8, 2007)
This sounds to me like sort of a polite way of saying "we can't have a rapist in our band".
burningfeeetman (April 8, 2007)
So this guy's career is possibly ruined by a girl who could end up just being some cunt with problems.
Someone (April 8, 2007)
Nice friends...
Someone (April 8, 2007)
dude is a douchebag. if you truly knew the guy, you wouldn't be too surprised by the allegation.

whether he's guilty or not- this dude has been kicked out of every band he has ever been in
Someone (April 8, 2007)
Whether he's guilty or not, a part of me cannot wait for the comments that story is going to get on this site.

"...but rape is probably the most emotionally involved crime one can be a victim of."
Someone (April 8, 2007)
Yeah that's cool can't wait ti seem him in the "scene", we want more rapists in punk rock bands....oh wait
Someone (April 8, 2007)
If I was going to trial with accusations of raping someone, you can bet that making sure my bass playing is decent would be pretty far down on my importance scale. He's simply not going to be able to represent the band the way he should be, and for that I can't blame the band at all. They're not throwing him out to the wolves, they're simply making the best decision they can.
Someone (April 8, 2007)
this makes sense. Obviously his time and energy need to be devoted to other things. The band needs to carry on.

dom made a statement on his myspace: "Let me start by saying that the last few weeks have been an absolute nightmare for me. As many of you already know, I have faced accusations that go against everything I believe in, as both a human being and as a man. Due to legal issues, it has been extremely difficult for me to defend myself in public since this nightmare began - I still am unable to do so to the extent with which I would like, due to the fact that the mounting evidence that proves my innocence must stay confidential until pending legal matters are dealt with. What I will say at this time however, is that these accusations are completely false. I am confident that my innocence will be proved in due course and in the meantime, I beg of you, please be patient. I thank all of you for your overwhelming support and kindness to myself, show rest of comment

what is unfortunate about rape is where a man is guilty or not they will live with the stigma of being an accused rapist for the rest of their life. With other crimes like theft, even if a person has actually done it seem to be let off the hook a lot easier.

Doesn't sound like he got kicked out.
Someone (April 8, 2007)
sound like the last thing on his mind is playing in a band and touring all over the place.
passionisafashion (April 8, 2007)
Why does everyone pass judgment on this shit when they know exactly nothing? There's no evidence we're aware of either way - Davi has the right of being innocent until proven guilty and so does this girl - she hasn't been proved a false accuser yet.
Someone (April 8, 2007)
This is complete bullshit, the entire band knows the charges are about to be completely dropped.
Someone (April 8, 2007)
I heard a rumor that these guys were opening for Velvet Revolver this summer.
Someone (April 8, 2007)
I still love this band.
Someone (April 8, 2007)
"when we fall we will pick up the pieces we know that we'll never be down for too long"
Someone (April 8, 2007)
That statement was made by Chon Travis - clearly a self-absorbed, self-interested, back-stabbing ass-hole. Tonio didn't even know that that statement was being made when Chon posted it. Now it's being represented like the whole band got together and made a statement. Not true. Chon is panicking and stabbing his about-to-be-proven-innocent (ex) friend in the back. The band is over as of now. What a fucking mess. Way to stand by your friends Chon.
Someone (April 8, 2007)
I think this band is pretty decent. They have potental to be great.
Someone (April 8, 2007)
Yall need to calm down and smoke a blunt.
Someone (April 8, 2007)
That dudes been burnt for so long. there is no way we was gonna get on a stage again after this guitly or not guitly.
Someone (April 8, 2007)
I'm not reading this as him getting kicked out.
Someone (April 8, 2007)
remember when dudeman from modest mouse was accused of rape? the murder city devils crew was saying he was straight up guilty.
Someone (April 8, 2007)
I saw this band in Chico with AFI.
Someone (April 8, 2007)
Unfortunatly this guy is a bad bass player with a worse temper, if you remeber when he was kicked out of his llast two bands for being a bad bassplayer and having a bad temper he did everything he could to talk shit about them, esp. TB. for years to come on his myspace account. I cant wait to see how long it takes him to start that up again. if nyone ever took the tme to realy read his blogs, they are all filled with woe is me and how much other people suck compared to him. They just needed an excuse to kick him out and it presented itself in a public forum.
nowilhelmtrigger1208 (April 9, 2007)
Frankly, I feel bad for the guy. This is the 2nd time I've heard him getting kicked out of a band. The last time it was his OWN band to boot - same case here?
Someone (April 11, 2007)
im a big fan of love equals death, so i think i would know if he ran a porn site. idk why people are saying that.
Someone (April 19, 2007)
The only reason anyone knew LED is because Dom was in Tsunami Bomb, they suck and there terrible live, Dom probably is guilty some what but the chicks a whore so let him play music
furiousweebee (April 19, 2007)
To me, this is a perfectly normal decision by the band. You never know, maybe Dominic himself wanted to focus his attention on clearing his name.
MyStereoHasMono (July 9, 2008)
Why couldn't this guy be like the rest of us former rapists and beat-off while staring at her in a bar or on the street? Absolutely disgusting. |
