Hi, here's the deal. We used to get free hosting, and the site ran on it's own dedicated server. So it easily kept up with the load from people checking out the site. However, we lost the free hosting, and I had to move the site to a shared hosting company until I can scrape together enough money to pay to get the server up again. It ain't cheap, and I don't make any money from the site so I can't afford it right now. - Aubin
In the past few days, a lot of people [myself included] have had significant problems connecting to the site, receiving an error message saying the server is full. I haven't heard from Aubin on this, but my best guess is that we've run out of bandwidth. What usually works best for me is just hitting "Reload" until it allows you to connect. Hopefully we can get all this straightened out soon, and you can all keep getting your news here. Stay tuned for any updates.

The actual problem seems to be that too many users are connecting to the MySQL database, it reaches max connections© I'm assuming your host limits the amount of connections to MySQL, and such a cap can't be changed without administrator access to MySQL© Aubin - why don't you start with banner ads again, like I told you in that e-mail, I'd pay for ad space, I'm sure many other people would too© I know a cheap place to get dedicated Raq4's with 350gb monthly bandwidth for $100 bucks a month, it is what I'm looking to get for Mediaocre and my friend's network of web sites "pogmania"© And hey, how bout that account? :¤

You could ask for money donations. I think people could afford to give you some money to help you to pay the bandwith. Usually people that have a computer are not poor.

yeah i think donations are a good idea, if the bandwith is too high, i'd say there's a lot of people visiting the site, which means if people gave a few bucks, you could raise a lot of money. i'd give up a few dollars to make the site beter.

mabey you could get some merch upand running, i know i talked to scott, and we both thought that tshirts would be cool, as well as stickers or something of that nature. And im sure you could do some advertising, if mr brett reads this site, im sure many labels would pay for an ad

I'd much rather have a quality site with an add or two, than a quality site that I have trouble connecting to. So Aubin def. go for the ads. Just keep em down to punk things, and evertying will be fine. If anyone calls you a sellout for that, tell them to fuck off. |

Yeah, I've been having having problems too. It will usually say that the "server has reached its capacity" or something similar to that. Reloading works sometimes. The problem particularily shows up on the message board (here) and other areas like reviews.
