Goldfinger record delayed, cancel Warped Tour plans

According to a blog posted today from guitarist Charlie Paulson, Goldfinger has delayed the release of their SideOneDummy debut and will not be performing on this year's Warped Tour. Aside from other band members working on various projects, vocalist John Feldmann needed further time to recover from a knee injury and has been at the side of his son, who was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his leg:

that's about the time when we got hit by a landslide of bullshit & bad news...most of which fell on my good friend mr. feldmann. first his doctor told him he needed to take some time off the road. we did a short west coast tour last year at which time john tore his knee up really bad. he had surgery & started to heal when, against medical advice we went over to the u.k. where he ripped it open again (see what this man will do to entertain you fuckers?). so this time he's gotta stay put for real & heal or there will be no more diving off of thirty foot speaker stacks onto your heads. as if that wasn't bad enough, his (not even one year old) son had what looked to be a cancerous tumor in his little leg. we all prayed & held our breath while the doctors went to work. i don't know if i believe in god but julian got to see his his first birthday cancer free so maybe someone up there was listening

The band plans to release the album early next year, but will be releasing a 2-song live EP via iTunes in the near future.

The last Goldfinger album may possibly be the worst album ever by a band that I actually like. There was not a single good song on that piece of garbage. But I will probably still get the next one and I wish these guys the best. Oh, and they should stop w/ the preachy animal rights bullshit. Don't they know that it's just another religion.

What a stupid comment. Punk music is supposed to be about expressing your opinions on various issues, and animal rights is an issue, whether you agree with it or not. To deny them that is just an ignorant as the whole "shut up and sing" motto.

i dont know why everyne is hating this band..i like them...and shit, "disconnection notice" was a good album..not ska, and not even reaqlly punk..but the songs wrere all well-crafted and lyrically, were some of their best work to date. i hope john heals up well, and his son lives a good, long life.

Probably the most disappointing album of my life. It was Good Charlotte, plain and simple. And this from the band I always claimed would never release a shitty album. Bummer.

Oh well, here's to hoping that the new album will get back to stomping and clever ska-punk rather than shitty pop-punk (nothing against pop-punk in general, because I love All).

I used to like a few Goldfinger songs back in the Hang Ups days and stuff, but it always bothered the crap out of me how much of a punk rock elitist the singer comes off as with damn near nothing to back it up.

Plus, and this is a FACT, 7 Seconds' 99 Red Baloons beats the shit out of their version.

It's interesting to see all of these people joke about Feldman's kid having cancer, but I know 100% that if anyone had joked about Cal Robinson there would be a billion posts talking shit on that jokester.

Cancer is cancer folks, regardless of who's the father, it is still a tragedy when a kid (who isn't even 1 years old yet) is ill. Lay off the jokes for now, some of those dudes read this website.

i disagree with you. i said "you've got cancer so go fuckin die". GG Allin wrote this line, and he is considered by many all over the world as one of the punkest people ever alive. Maybe you should think about how these lyrics are significant in a different way, other than their literal meaning. Maybe it's a statement on the absurdity of life? who knows! anyway, i could also argue that you threatening to "kick the shit out of me" is not punk because many people associate this type of violence with the "jock" that you believe i am. And you're the second person to assume that i listen to mainstream music because of what i said, the first person said i listened to simple plan. you know what's better than lame combacks? an actual argument. but if you want to do that shit, you can suck my unwashed balls.
