On June 26, 2007, Social Distortion will release their Greatest Hits on CD and limited edition vinyl through Time Bomb Recordings. The collection distills three decades of the band's career to a succinct 11 tracks, spanning from "Another State of Mind" and "Mommy's Little Monster" to recent tracks like "Reach for the Sky" and "I Was Wrong." The set features a new single titled "Far Behind." Expect the song to hit radio on May 15th.

The band last released Sex, Love and Rock 'n' Roll in 2004.

You're right...both bands are way past their prime and need to be put out to pasture. Their fans need to stop being such whiny bitches about this album, too. If you don't want to buy it, don't. Mike Ness will still get richer even without your contribution to his neck-tat fund.

A lot of people share your sentiments in Orange County. According to some people with axes to grind, Mike Ness had some falling out with former member Casey Royer, allegedly for not acknowledging songwriting credits for some SD songs. Casey Royer ended up starting Adolescents and D.I. afterwards.

I honestly could care less--I don't hate SD, but I could think of a lot more appealing bands that call OC home.

My only problem as a long time fan is only 1 new song. It's great that Sony and TImebomb worked out any legalities between the recording rights, but I still wish it had more new stuff, even old stuff like "I can't run no more" or covers like "Bakersfield" would make me happy. I agree that there should be more previously released songs on it as well. "don't take me for granted", "1945" "alone and Forsaken" and "through these eyes" would be great to see on there. Maybe it should be a 2 disc set, or a part one of two.

Sick Boy. I mean seriously, how can SD have a greatest hits album and not include the one song that truly defines their fans.
Sometimes I Do. I just saw SD in Omaha in May and they played that, I forgot how awesome that song is.

I don't see the need for this.....Social D's "Live at the Roxy" is my favorite live recording I own. The Mike Ness rants get old after you listen to it as much as I have but the sound quality is great, more songs, etc. Of course there are songs left off Live at the Roxy that I would have liked to have been on there but it is a better representation then this new "Best Of" cd

No Cold Feelings, Don't Drag me Down.... There should be another 20 tracks on that list. Plus, how are they using Ring of Fire when its not really even their song? They should let the fans pick the tracklist list on greatest hit cds....

You are wrong. You can't put songs on a greatest hits CD which aren't hits. Granted, many of the songs here, I don't think were hits. You let the fans pick for the "Best Of" cd.

I was originally quite excited about this, but man, this track listing is very weak (and short for that matter). The band would be better served putting out a "best of" somewhat similar to NoFx or Goldfinger.

What I wanna know is how the FUCK a 30-year-old band can have a "greatest hits" album that's only eleven songs? Unless this is going to be sold a grocery stores for $4.99, I just don't see the point. Oh, and "Don't Drag Me Down" is one of the best Social D songs EVER (and it's not fucking on this disc). COME ON!

With the amount of material they've recorded over the years, this should be at the LEAST a 2-CD set with a booklet. At most it should be a box set. There is zero thought put into this apparently and I think EVERYONE here could just burn a CD with all of the songs and more to make a far better collection than this. It's almost like this is one of those crappy record club or truck stop compilation CDs that you can get for $3.00!

My point is/was most fans of Social Distortion have all these songs anyway. Putting one new song on a very trim CD is quite a waste and rather unfair but then again they're headlining the Weanie Roast.

Honestly after being a fan since prisonbound, I'm glad to see Ness is still putting out albums. After the death of Dennis I assumed they would hang it up.
So I guess it might be a cash grab release but the guy deserves it, much more so than the crap that's on the radio right now. Kudos, I'll buy it, but I will burn my own greatest hits volume to go along with this one.
