Videos: The Flaming Lips: "She Don't Use Jelly [Live from Oklahoma]"

The Flaming Lips have released a new clip from their upcoming live package. The record is titled UFOs At The Zoo: The Legendary Concert In Oklahoma City and is due out July 10, 2007. It comes after the band's last studio full length, At War with the Mystics, which was released in 2006.

The track is perhaps the most well-known song from the esoteric act, having originally been released on their 1993 album, Transmissions from the Satellite Heart. The track even earned a mention on The Simpsons, when Lisa remarks 'Milhouse likes vaseline on toast' a reference to the songs protagonist.

At least all the instruments are live. I saw these guys a few years ago and it was all pre-recorded except for the drums and the keyboards the bass player was tinkering around on instead of playing bass.

I've always hated this song

Writing and recording an album that can be listened to on four CDs simultaneously OR individually? That would be sweet.
Writing and recording a normal album, and then splitting up the different tracks onto four discs so that it doesn't really make sense individually? Simple studio hackery with no genius attached. But, hey, it's a lot easier than the first one, and it's still a rad marketing gimmick!

i guess thats true, haha. i guess the lead singer got the idea from first doing it with 100 cassette tapes in a parking garage and cars, and he wanted it to be 10 discs instead of four. but the band convinced him to only do four

wow, that looks like so much fun...

I was at the Hollywood Bowl show in L.A. that was supposed to be filmed for the DVD release and the audience had very minimal participation, kinda sucked. I'm guessing they felt so too and decided to record a different show...

This one looks way better.

I'm honestly surprised so many people here hate this band.

You'd think being an exceptional, creative, rocking, intelligent, fun, genius band would get you some props. I guess not.

This DVD is going to be so good.
