Rise Against plan new album

Rise Against are planning to return the studio to work on their fifth album as soon as they finish touring and promoting their latest album The Sufferer & the Witness. Expect it to be released sometime in the summer of 2008. Further information regarding the new album remains unknown for the time being.

The band has been touring non-stop since the release of "The Sufferer & The Witness" in 2006. The band will be heading their own tour through North America throughout this summer, which means they would not be part of this year's Warped Tour. Tomorrow (May 19th), Rise Against will also perform live at the fifteenth annual KROQ Weenie Roast, which is set to kick off at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, California.

Just remember one thing: if you comment on this story, Tim will want to send you to The Hague.

It's so strange how fast these guys blew up. From playing a 300 person joint with the Arms to headlining a 2,000 person venue. I know they've been around for a while but it seems like the last two years they've just launched. At least it's getting something better to the masses.

i agree that is strange, i think their two major label outputs have sold over 750,000 combined. unfortunately some of the songs on those two albums are one or two degrees from really bad radio rock. i think thats how they appeal to the mainstream. Months ago on rodeo drive there was a MASSIVE advert for their newest album

Their two major label albums aren't up to the quality of their two Fat records, but still much better than other bands who make the jump.

In my opinion, both Siren Song and Sufferer would probably have been the same if they were still on Fat. So, cheers for bands like this getting good music out to the kiddies.

Yeah it really seems like they were progressing towards a slower, more full rock sounds. I've liked both of those to release but not as much as the first two.
But they could certainly be putting out worse albums on a major label.

this band is one of my faves, but each new release gets progressively worse than the last.

bring back the fast beats and aggression of the demo and the first two records!!

yea i agree chris didnt fit RA. Hopefully with Zach Blair in the band will bring some more agressive sounds to the new album.

yeah these guys and strung out... the singers started to do too much of the drawn-out "singing" voice, not enough of the faster bark/talk. doesn't fit, and sucks

Wow, I thought I was the only one who felt that way. From the comments on here, I assumed everyone's favorite Rise Against album was "RPM". THat being said, I actually think "Siren Song" and "Sufferer" would've made one really good record.

I actually think if you put the best songs from those two albums into one album and changed the production on the siren song songs it would be better than rpm.

agreed. bring back the fast beats. there is only one fast song on the latest record, the rest is a bunch of wishy-washy midtempo rock.

Sufferer was terrible but i blame that on the guitar player that left. this is prob the last album ill give a chance. also, i remember siren sold upwards of 500,000. what has sufferer sold? and is there a website that shows soundscan numbers?

i really don't understand the hate here for the last album, at all

i've listened to it considerably and i really can't see how it's anything but Revolutions Per Minute part two...and way better than Siren Song..

yeah "Roadside" and "Approaching Curve" aren't great songs IMO but other than that it's similar to RPM, i think people on here would have a have a very different opinion if they were still on Fat or something

I honestly like the Approaching Curve....mostly cause it's just a little different from other Rise Against stuff. I know it's generic/formulaic and everything, but it's a guilty pleasure of mine.

And yes, if they were still on Fat, people would still love them.

Yeah, it sticks out like a sore thumb in the middle of the album. Prayer! Drones! ....approaching curve...Worth Dying For! The only reason this band gets hate is because its cool to hate successful bands (and because they suck LOL GOOD ONE LOL!), especially when Tim gets the weirdest haricut ever (seriously I had the biggest man crush until that emo parade on his head). Even if it ain't your style, they're still a very talented band.

i judge RA albums by # of solid tracks.
RPM had about 7-8
Siren Song had about 4-5
and the latest had 3-4
so i would say its progressively worse, and it has nothing do with the label.

Tim's awesome. thats a cool interview. dammit i commented. oh well. anyway, maybe Rise Against should release something like an E.P. a split or two instead of a full length. it would make their discography more interesting and fun.
