Exclusive Videos: Landmines (live in Richmond, VA)

Way back when, a group of guys from Massachusetts moved down to Richmond. A few went on to form the band that is now Smoke or Fire, the rest bummed around town working shitty jobs and playing in a few bands. They have since formed Landmines, playing a PBR-infused brand of hardcore. This footage comes from a recent show opening for their Boston brethren, and if you like what you see, the band is currently on the road.

No one I know has and I haven't seen any reviews of it anywhere I frequent so I'm left unable to talk about it with anyone.

No, but a friend of mine has. What did you think? She said it's good, but doesn't come off as a Palahniuk book...if that makes any sense.

I enjoyed it but I see what she's saying about it not feeling like a work that's analogous to his other stuff. There are elements that are the usual crazy elements (the main character's penchant for poisonous spiders and things of that ilk) but I think it lacks the overall idea that Palahniuk books tend to have. I wasn't really sure what the point was. Is it a book about class and how the upper class keep the lower class down? I don't know because I couldn't seem to find the unifying idea.

Enjoyed it, but it's not his best.

Because I film/edit them, and that's where I live. When I travel, if there is a good band playing I'll shoot footage and try to post it. I've also done videos from Virginia Beach, Las Vegas, DC, Philly, Gainesville, South Carolina, Raleigh, Lousiville and New Jersey.

sickboi i always see you at alley katz shows taking videos
at least i assume it's you because you have a video camera
landmines fucking rule and are the only band to date that i know of to cover Propagandhi well... or at all
i don't get how they're a "hardcore" band. they sound like hot water music meets smoke or fire to me

Eh, they aren't traditional hardcore...but the vocals certainly lead that direction. They are diverse though....no two songs sound the same. Next time you see me, say hi. I 'll probably be at the Set Your Goals show Sunday.

It was the start of their set, and he made one brief comment, then a more serious one about a friend losing a loved one. Hence the band, you know, introducing themselves....
