I have an account there. A long time ago Tate was saying there'd be a gift or surprise for the first 10,000 or something. I don't even remember what happened (in terms of the gift) but I rarely use it.
A while ago at work I was working super late so I signed on to kill some time. It literally hurt my head to talk to those people. The best part is that Tate dug out a year old picture of me and Mike Park and tried to use it as an insult. I'm not sure how me taking a picture with Mike Park is insulting but Tate knew (I guess).
Anyhow, I don't read it and I've used my account to comment a total of 10 (maybe) times. It's just a waste of internet and if you really dislike it you're better off not dealing with it.

its a double edged sword. I think i need to just stop opening threads, or reading any review that anyone on that site writes. thats really when it irritates me. unfortunetly they do have a tendancy to update more often than punknews...usually with crap i dont care about, but sometimes with stuff i am interested in.

so while bored at work, i definitly check a few times a day. I just need to stop opening threads.

oh, and thank you, i remember from an earlier post, you were bitching about not being able to delete your account, this definitly prevented me from starting one.

back in 2003 or so I had no idea punknews.org existed and had an account at absolutepunk. I quickly tired of the site because there was little talk of bands that I was interested in but plenty of stuff about yellowcard, underoath, etc. I would get into many messageboard fights. I'm cool.

but every now and then i cant resist the urge to take a sneaky peek even though i know its gonna annoy the fuck out of me!

Dig up the old thread on that site from when Leftover Crack got in that run-in with the cops and you'll see just what a bunch of pussies are on that site. They're all "why is this band on here?" and "they probably deserved it". Then again, their lead story this morning was a review of a Paramore album. If that's not absolutely punk, then I don't know what is.

did you read that review? thats what initially pissed me off this morning.

I could care less what Tate's opinion is of Paramore, a review is supposed to describe how an album works, what makes it good, what it's problems are, basically to help a reader gain an understanding of what the CD made you feel.

that review was Tate talking about himself for three paragraphs, and then one paragraph about how the album was 'catchy' and one sentence that said the production was good. wow. great job.

im sorry i started this thread, now im angry all over again ahhhhhh.

They were tight when I saw them, playing and energy-wise, and considering what they had to cut out of the songs on Hidden World I was really impressed with how well it translated. Not to mention they were playing in a skatepark that was pretty much just a concrete shoebox.

Recently losts of shows have been going through there.

The Locust is playing there soon and the Varukers too (they fuckin still rule).
Now bands go there and bypass San Diego in a whole new way.
Pretty soon they are going to start playing in life rafts ten miles off of the coast just to rub more salt into SD's wounds.

Just got into these guys, stoked they're coming to Virginia Beach.

I had never heard of this city until I moved here, it's kinda nice that so many bands seem to stop here.

yeah, virginia beach is nice. we stopped there on tour. we had a day off and the band we were on tour with played with glasseater and the calico system. it was a nice place, but the beach was completely dead. i think we were the only ones in our hotel. kind of creepy. must have been off season.

the show was at a place on the main strip. it was upstairs and really a nice little club. truthfully, i've been on the road too many times to remember the name. we didn't play that night, we had a day off but our friends "as cities burn" played. some showcase or something.

The reason they're playing Lawrence is because my local record store kicks fucking ass. When the owner of the store ponies up some of his own money to get a show booked, or to rent out the movie theatre to show American Hardcore, that store deserves money like crazy.
