Ben Weasel's new single, Got My Number, now on Myspace

Ben Weasel has posted the first song from his upcoming sophomore solo album, These Ones Are Bitter. The record is due out June 26, 2007 and is his first solo outing since 2002's Fidatevi.

As reported, the disc will be released via Ben's own digital-only Mendota and will be available via digital download from iTunes, eMusic, Rhapsody, downloadpunk.com, Napster, and many other digital retailers. That said, the site notes that a limited edition vinyl version of the album will be released later in 2007 on Edmond Records.

For the record, Weasel has recruited bassist Dan Andriano of Alkaline Trio as well as two members of he All-American Rejects: Mike Kennerty and Chris Gaylor. Kennerty also acted as producer.

This is suprisingly good. Much better than anything from the last couple Screeching Weasel albums.

This song is pretty rockin'. Sounds like this might be his best record in years. Kinda reminds me of my brains hurts/anthem etc. but with a better production.

The drumming doesn't sound right for a Ben Weasel song. We'll see I guess.

Maybe because you've only heard one style of drumming - SW. The other was a Ramones rip-off so it doesn't count. This song is fantastic.

I love Screeching Weasel and Ben's solo record, but honestly Ben Weasel and members from 2 of the worst bands in history?!?!? All-American Rejects and Alkaline Trio....Alkaline Trio is way more acceptable.....but the All-American Rejects....This is Ben Weasel's "Dirty Little Secret".

Hope the album rules, but I am a little skeptical.

Maybe if you get your head out of your ass and stop thinking that every major label band/band that doesn't sound like it belongs in your "punk" collection sucks, then maybe you'd see that AAR have a great pop sound and produce some very catchy tunes. Just a thought-or you could go on using lame jokes like "This is BW's Dirty Little Secret"

I am going to say it and get ripped for it, but dammit isn't the internet all about fighting over pointless shit? I feel that if this song was not written and sung by Ben Weasel, that everyone on here would be tearing it a new one. This is generic pop-punk, that screams for some guy who sounds like a 12 year old with a cold to be singing instead of Ben. I love Screeching Weasel, The Queers, The Lillingtons, ect. but I find this release to be decent at best. I will give it more time and try the album simply out of dedication to the man, but I swear, if this wasn't Ben Weasel you'd all be taking a massive collective dump upon it.
